Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum: Habemus Papam

This deserves it's own thread. :p Luther wasn't able to keep the Refromation united because he didn't seek to replace the pope with himself. All he wanted to do was to reform the church. You know, stop selling indulgences, have a Bible that the people could read. (i.e., not in latin). And a...

Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum: Habemus Papam

"Things fall apart; the center cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood dimm'd tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity." --Yates From my view, as a...

    Terran Shipkiller Concept

Seems to me it would make more sense to rebuild the behemoth. If it can utterly destroy a planet, a capship wouldn't be a problem. . . . oh right. When you have all your eggs in one basket, what happens when the basket gets dumped?

Annuntio vobis gaudium magnum: Habemus Papam

I'm not a Catholic, but IMO, far better to have a conservative pope than a liberal pope. But hey, that's just my opinion. I think John Paul did rather good job. (Understatement, eh?) So what if this guy was Hitler youth? In Germany in those days, you had no choice. If he deserted when he had...

Most Dominant Fighter of it's time...

For the Prophecy era, the Vampire. Though, the Wasp was nice as well, but not as utilitarian. In WC-IV, Bearcat. Was just starting to come into its own. In WC-III, Thunderbolt. In WC-II, hmm. In my hands, the Sabre. The wingmen can get a Rapier. In WC-1, Raptor. Superships...

    My favorite WWII movie

That's cuz I didn't notice this thread until now. :D For a pure war movie that really does a lot of explaining HOW/why stuff happened, Tora! Tora! Tora! takes the title, for me. It's pracitcally a documentary. Patton is an incredible movie. Midway butchered the footage portion. Story...

    Questions and things

Having never read the WC3 novel, I wouldn't have known that he was also named for the cartoon, though I'd find it odd that a cartoon would last for hundreds of years. Wasn't it Hobbes in WC2 that tells you about his callsign?

    Questions and things

Well, yeah, but you offered us a choice of a cat or a goldfish. Between the two, I'd pick the cat for the name. If I had a cat, I'd call it Hobbes. And if anyone ever said, "Oh! Calvin & Hobbes, right?" I'd give them a short speech about the best wingman I ever had. :p Thrakhath would be...

Is Killing Kilrathi and Nephilim more justified than Humans?

Killing, fine. Eating, probably over the top.

    Dekker in new commercial

At least the guy (from starship troopers) can tell his kids that he was in a successful/good production, then, if only for a minute. :p And that Tolwyn guy, isn't he in a movie or three? :p

    Halo 2 Expansion....

You evil, capitalist slime!! ;) Yep. Developing and releasing stuff costs money. If they want to charge for the convenience of downloading a package, that's their perogative. . . "It's a privilage of rank." "I'll be you stay up late nights just polishing it, huh." "No, I have Majors that do...

    Jump Point Defense

Again, from the Jump FAQ, iirc, buoys were not merely markers. That info was already in the Nav computer. They also served as relays, sending information through the line. Thus, shielding one would be important in some instances.
