I know there are some programs in the file section that extract each ship in a .iff file. I don't know if Truespace can open this format. I think there was a iff to dxf converter for 3D Exploration at some time.

Quake II was release at the end of 1997 and Half-Life in 1998. They made a lot of money. I guess most people were playing FPS and it was safer for EA to make FPS, sports and racing games than space sims. :(

It shouldn't be too difficult to code it all. There are not many movements for each characters and few expressions (mad, happy...) . It's just a few sprites and with the alpha channel it should be easier to do than it was back when the programmers at Origin did it. If you want lip synching...
