    Lexington Depression

Interesting. I just noticed something... Even by 2669, the ability of the gun to phase penetrate shields had already been acknowledged to be lost. Now, it slams shields like any other gun. Change in shielding perhaps?

    Lexington Depression

Excerpt from 'VICTORY STREAK' on the Antimatter Gun In fact, it would appear in 2669 when standard heavy fighters and bombers and were equipped with phase shields that the AMG was an integral part of defense. Not so much an offensive weapon against capships, but as a defensive weapon against...

But in Wing Commander III, Kilrathi capships had AMGs. Many missions were fought going up against Fralthi IIs and the such. LOAF, in the universe continuity, were the DDs and CCs from WC III the same as those from WC IV that were lacking the AMGs and had less protection? Would it be a stretch...

WC4 Border Worlder's fly Arrows and Thunderbolts?

Good point. I thought that Star Lancer had offered an impressive array of fighters, although, I unfortunately lost interest in most of them because there was no major discernable difference between them. Instead of offering 4-6 really quality fighters, we got 10-12 semi-similar fighters.

    Lexington Depression

What happened to the AMGs? We know that they were in WCIV because the Vesuvius and the Saint-Helens had them. Why did they not include them on the destroyers and cruisers. Even at maximum difficulty, the Lex still goes down with two torpedoes. I am a little confused about the mechanics of...

    Lexington Depression

I get your meaning Chris. It was just kind of a spur of the moment post to stir things up. I just got done blowing up the Lady Lex and hour ago at work. I guess I am more upset with just how easy WCIV made it to actually kill the fleet carrier. Just two torpedoes, or 15-20 leech shots. No...

    Lexington Depression

Hello everyone, I have recently re-acquired a copy of Wing Commander IV and began playing it for the first time in almost three years. Having defected Confed, I have come to the mission where Eisen orders you to escort the Intrepid through the jump point in the Silenos nebula. During the...

WC4 Mod For Homeworld 2 In The Works (June 5, 2006)

Perhaps the coolest screen pic I have seen all year! Kudos!

    WC2 Armaments

Yeah. I was thinking more along the lines of some of the US Navy's older tactical nuke arsenal. It has been more than rumored that in the 50's and 60's, the Iowa class BB's were equipped with 16" Mk.23 15-20 kiloton shells. It is a fact that at one point the Navy was using Mk.33 nuclear...

Thanks for that LOAf. Definitely makes sense.

    WC2 Armaments

'Speculation only' disclaimer. Couldn't Confed shoot Fusion or Antimatter shells from their flak guns, thus causing greater damage from the rather small explosive bursts emitted from the WC2 design?

    WC2 Armaments

I stand corrected. I didn't recall those examples. Still, to the point, capships from the WC2 era seem really lightly armed. Any thoughts? Any additional armaments during the commissioning of say the Waterloo (which we know to be around at least as early as 2654) or during the WC3 and WC4 time...

    WC2 Armaments

Not in Wing Commander 2 though. In WC3, they were used as a heavier Dual Purpose Gun, but from what I remember, the WC2 AMG was used strictly as an anti-shipping weapon that could penetrate phase-shielded targets. Still wondering about why the WC2 era ships were so lightly armed?

    WC2 Armaments

Hello everyone, Just wondering about the capships of the WC2 era. Although it has been shown that the Gilgamesh and Waterloo existed prior to the setting of the WC2 game, was their weapon loadout different? Looking at these vessels, along with their Kilrathi counterparts has led me to wonder...

Do Somalian Pirates Have Peg Legs

Yesterday a US cruiser and a destroyer engaged a Somalian pirate vessel. http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/africa/03/18/pirates.somalia/index.html?section=cnn_latest Battle on the high seas and all that.

Huh.....I never thought of it like that.

    Battlestar Galactica

I wholly agree. I think my point is that any ship that is equipped with anti-matter torpedoes, irrespective of other roles, must be classed as a warship. I had really only used the Defiant as an example of how the Federation appeared to change in political spectrum throughout the whole Star...

    Battlestar Galactica

Interesting how the conception of the Federation seems to change from time to time. During TOS, it was established that Kirk was a "soldier", stated out of his own mouth during the Organian Peace Treaty episode. Then later, it seems that the ideas of Star Fleet and the Federation as a whole were...
