    A Manifesto

Well, Brad, like I said I'm pretty much a retro too. We seem to have very different priorities though. My retro side's TOP priority: Getting rid of those commodity and upgrade screens in Vegastrike style. This is for me the biggest obstacle to my nostalgic cravings. Whether a Drayman has one...

    A Manifesto

You may be right. I did enjoy P2, I must say, to some extent. I enjoyed the story. The images of bases were awsome. And the ships were 3D. Most of all, I enjoyed the feeling of depth at the bases, where you'd take a train ride to a nearby town, walk down a street and go see someone at his or her...

    A Manifesto

How about 4? Reason I say this is with 4 you can get more of a spherical coverage around the ship (pointing them like the vertexes of a tetrahedron). FYI, tetrahedron is like a pyramid with a triangular base, instead of a square base, and where the base as well as the 3 sides are equilateral...

    A Manifesto

I gladly put my signature onto the Manifesto. In fact, I only opposed the Retro side because it seemed to be gaining the upper hand and I didn't like the direction that's been taking. Like the "Just Say NO" post. All I really want is that there be dialogue, without rule of thumb bans, or "fan...

    Upgrades

That's right, autotracking is very useful, but you're better off turning it off when a ship is coming towards you nosing around in circles, then turning it back on as it begins to shoot or fly straight.

    ITTS bug?

ITTS only gives you a leading reticle you have to aim to manually. If you want the guns to automatically do leading correction, you need to upgrade the gun mounts to AUTOTRACKING. This upgrade is available at Perry, and costs 90,000 credits per mount point.

    Mil Spec Centurion

Yes, true; but still, you don't drive into a military base to find a surplus market. I'm not even sure Perry should have a market at all. All it sells is weapons, and too expensive at that. Okay, we're talking upgrades rather than market, but still, even then, I'm not sure I'd have any upgrades...

Righteous Fire Missions not shown as active

Yeah, I don't like getting paid in cargo myself. Specially considering that most random missions make no sense at all, like there was a mission transporting uranium from New Detroit to Troy!!! This needs fixing, BTW. And if you get paid in cargo, it means you have to keep it in your hold to sell...

    problems with the Repair Droid

That's how it was in the original game; it wasn't a real-time repair, just a way of saving repair costs on the ground. And what I did sometimes in the original game was to escape from combat, hang out for a while while the repairs were done, then go back to fighting.

    on transitioning to RF...

One problem with the original which the remake could correct is the lack of chronological correlation of some of the bartenders' monologues.

    Mil Spec Centurion

This is it!: Mil Spec rules: Anything MilSpec shoud be at least 200% more rugged. A mil spec ship should include a mil spec repair droid, and everything mil spec that the droid would fix. My rationale is that a mil spec droid would probably have a subset of a civilian droid's AI, for...

    Mil Spec Centurion

Right. I see the point. Hmmm... Maybe the military wouldn't sell ships, anyways. Right? Typically a military is a branch of government, which gets taxpayers' money to *purchase*, not sell, military equipment. So, maybe mil-spec ships should be available in NewDetroit, rather. And whether...

    Mil Spec Centurion

Ok, you raise several points here. True, systems can be produced almost for free, and one could go overboard, like Vegastrike. I cannot "absolutely prove" there was a desire to have more systems, but I can easily tackle the question of whether it would have been desirable (by the players). Game...

    Missile Slingshot bug

Yeah, neither speed-matching nor speed caps make any sense physically in space, unless one justifies speed cap and fast turns by some technology allowing ships to "grab onto the fabric of space", but I think Einstein gets restless in his resting place when we try to make speed non-relative. So...

    on transitioning to RF...

Okay, let me just contribute an outline of the problem here. In the original, the game ends with Terrel's speech. When Righteous Fire begins, the story takes off a year later, and one is put into Jolson, even if the player might have chosen to vacation in Helen, or New Detroit. But in the remake...

    Mil Spec Centurion

Exactly. I must have enjoyed the original, since I played the game from beginning to end about ten times. And I felt Privateer 2 was murder of the original concept, by contrast. I was very disappointed, and it took me years to understand why I disliked Priv2 so much, and why I liked Priv1 so...

    Mil Spec Centurion

When people have no good reasons to argue for or against a particular policy, and they know it, they turn to "demonization". Typical of "demonization" is pushing a new term, which is supposed to be bad. Witness it here: "fan boy", as in No one can appreciate "fan boy syndrome", since no such...

    Mil Spec Centurion

Actually, 'mil spec' is a bit more flexible a term than that. Suppose the military commisions a ship design, or adaptation, but in the end does not buy it, although the ship prototype passed their testing. The company making the ship has good reasons to call that model 'mil spec', even if not...

    seventeen... eighteen... nineteen. nineteen kamekhs.

I think you get one flight group per mission. Yesterday, I checked the missions at a merc guild computer, and found that 3 of the disks described essentially the same mission, each paying around 50K, so I though "nice, do it once, get paid thrice" so I took the 3 copies of the mission and went...
