    Turret Cockpit WIP

My suggestion is, depending on how detailed the damage model will be, your turret gunner might not even be alive to eject. If your forward firing weapons can be lost, surely the turret will be able to be taken out too. If you have to eject or limp away from a fight Phantom-style (check Action...

    General ideas

Based on previous information, won't the Newtonian vs. WC physics be dependent on the position of the ram scoops? Also, things like "head shake" can go a long way to adding a sense of motion. That is, when you pull a manuever, your viewpoint will shift slightly for a moment before you can...

    Massive project, Flightsim

The problem with those is that they are neat to look at, but a nightmare to anybody with even minimal drafting experience. Even the simplest features don't line up properly in the various (top/side/front/back) views. This would be a major problem for a project like the one being proposed in...

WC4 Mod For Homeworld 2 In The Works (June 5, 2006)

The regular HW2 has a strike group command that lets you select a whole bunch of ships including fighters, capships, etc. and they assume a formation that travels at the speed of the slowest ship, so I should imagine you would just be able to use that.

WC4 Mod For Homeworld 2 In The Works (June 5, 2006)

That preview looks great. Question: Do any cap ships have torpedoes?

    Have you tried FRAPS? http://www.fraps.com/

Agreed. I believe "badass" is an apt term.

    Features?

Based on what we've seen and heard so far, doesn't it look like these things are already the case?

That's exactly the point I was getting at.

    Hydra Cockpit WIP

Why would they be? The Hydra is a utilitarian gunship, not a luxury cruiser. And like Howard said, you're not looking at the full lighting setup anyway.

From Achilles to Zarkowsky (April 25, 2006)

You have a point, but Crete is a bad example, since Crete is Crete. Wake and Wake Island I can see, but Iwo? That's a stretch. Still, the difference between the Wake and Wake Island is important. The Wake was a small patrol boat commissioned in 1927, long before any combat occurred at Wake...

From Achilles to Zarkowsky (April 25, 2006)

I have a comment. The "Iwo" and "Wake" are listed, but leaving the names like that grates my nerves. The CVE class is named after amphibious operations from WWII, as we know. The quote that is used the cite those ships is conversational in nature, so I don't exactly think it would be some...

That's what I was thinking as well.

    Modular design and damage question

Yes, I have played WC1 and 2, and the fighters and projectiles in them don't float around the same way they do in Prophecy/Secret Ops/Standoff. It's a criticism of the flight model Standoff is built on more than anything you guys have done with the project. Nephilim ships act the same way in...

    Hydra Cockpit WIP

Looks good. I think the extra "shine" you've added in matches the style of the gun projectiles nicely.

    Modular design and damage question

Exactly. The size of the reticle has nothing to do with where the shots go. If you are flying straight in WC1/2 and shooting, the shots are still going dead center. It wouldn't matter if the reticle was a single pixel, or the whole screen. The large reticle and huge hitboxes were a technical...

    Hydra Cockpit WIP

I kinda like this idea. It would be cool to have some gauges mounted on the bracing. Even if they were non-functional, they would add some visual interest. The head turning thing sounds neat. I guess that fits in stylistically with the padlock view when dogfighting.

    Update-Time

No, I don't think the Dralthi is killed too easily. I think it's just right. When I said the pace was sped up, I meant both the actual flight speed and the speed of killing the enemy. In Freespace itself, the ships seem to float around and don't move very fast, and it takes forever to kill...

    Update-Time

When I said original game, I meant Freespace. It does look like WC3/4, which is the point.
