    A) Thanks for catching that; I wasn't exactly looking at my copy of the Tachyon strategy guide when I snagged the pic. Though you're right; there have been several takes by the Kilrathi on the flying pancake. B) It's Durandal, as in the rampant AI of the Marathon Trilogy. It's also my RL...

Yeah, but it's still infringing on WC turf....

    Concordia-class Super Cruiser

I think it's been overused enough in real life, thank you.... And personally, I wasn't too enthusiastic that the afforementioned franchise chose to name a ship class Intrepid, either.

Thanks for the historical data, folks. Millitary history isn't my strong suite; I'd have asked my friend Chris more about Midway, 'cept he's still asleep.

Actually, it was a poke at Wing Commander in general, but Privateer in specifics. After all, it's a little hard to explain why Tachyon's Galspan fields their own Flying Pancake. Galspan Pegasus interceptor. WC1's Dralthi.

I can't remember if we actually did invade Midway, or if the troops got there after the bombs dropped and set up camp. I do know it's still in use as a Naval Aviation base today. And good call with the Lexington data. I'd forgotten precisely what the actual facts on it were.

Message From Admiral Towlyn (August 1, 2004)

Well, I'm pretty sure Paladin does say Tolwyn ("From Admiral Tol-wyn", actually.); he may be the only one who does say it correctly in the first half. I'd noticed the mis-pronuciation, but never that spelling error.

Well, who knows. Maybe it sucked the cargo through a mini-black hole; maybe it was a poke at a certain long-running TV series. It certainly couldn't have been a poke at Tachyon; it was released well before that. Then again, looking at it all, I think Tachyon was a poke at Privateer 2.

    Concordia-class Super Cruiser

Lexington was a famous battle during the American Revolution, which means it may prove to be the exception to the rule ('Cause I'm pretty sure there is a USS Lexington) even though it technically falls under the same auspicies as the Midway and Tarawa (Which both were islands invaded by Allied...

    Concordia-class Super Cruiser

They don't seem to use a lot of historical ship names in WC; We don't see ships with names like Enterprise, Nimitz, or other famous ship names. They're usually refrenced from a phyiscal item (Concordia University, Mount St. Helens, Midway and Tarawa are all examples of this).
