Kickstarter Adds PDF Extra (June 7, 2017)

Dang it. I already had a hard enough time giving up the volume 2 score ($200 pledge) and now I need to decide on Volume 1 too?! Why oh why can I not afford the nice things ...

BREAKING NEWS: Wing Commander Orchestral Recording Kickstarter Launched (May 26, 2017)

Alas, my budget in June is tight, so it looks like no PDF score for me :(. But at least I contributed what I can. (Yes, I'm a sucker for CDs, even though from the last time the digital downloads were FLAC and I believe were better than CD quality)

BREAKING NEWS: Wing Commander Orchestral Recording Kickstarter Launched (May 26, 2017)

Such a hard decision... $100 I want, but I kinda wanna want the score as well... but can I justify spending another $100...

Goofballs Battle for the Enigma Sector (April 24, 2017)

I'd find it odd that only one was created and lost on the way the production. Because while they may make only one cartridge to be sent off to production, and that cartridge can get lost, that doesn't mean the game is lost. The master cartridge can be recreated - the original binaries burned...

BREAKING NEWS: Game Cover Kickstarter Re-Launches (March 19, 2017)

Was interested, then saw the ridiculous international shipping charges. $35 for the book and $30 for shipping? (With posters, it's $45). And US shipping is free, which means international shipping should've been discounted by whatever US shipping would've been (if it was $10, surely it could be...

    The MT-32 VS The Amiga

From the table - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_MT-32-compatible_computer_games#Table_of_compatible_games The Ultima series used the CM-32 extra sounds, while Wing Commander itself was designed for the "old" MT-32 (the headphone jack-less version). I think the MT-32 would play the mass...

    The MT-32 VS The Amiga

I just got a hold of an MT-32 earlier this week (a real MT-32). Hooked it up to DOSBox via a Roland UM-ONE mk2 USB-MIDI adapter (cheap, but apparently one of the best adapters). And then downloaded WC1 off of GoG to try that out (after configuring it to use the MT-32). I was surprised to learn...

Ad Ben: Sound Commander (February 13, 2017)

Yeah, The PS/2 used Micro Channel Architecture (MCA). It was good - very advanced for the time (while everyone was using 8 or 16 bit ISA, MCA had 32 bits), but as everyone hated, highly proprietary and to develop for MCA required paying $$$ to IBM. Of course, no one made any cards - why pay IBM...

Ad Ben: Sound Commander (February 13, 2017)

During the early 90s, there were plenty of sound cards, dozens or more of them all vying for marketshare. Most of them died out because they just were too small to get much support and sound blasters became the de-facto standard. So not being able to find specifics on your card isn't all too...

Ad Ben: Sound Commander (February 13, 2017)

I think you mean a "DAC" for the speech. AdLib, SoundBlaster had a Yamaha YM-OPL chip which was used to produce music... via FM synthesis. SoundBlaster basically had the OPL chip wired the same way as the AdLib, giving it full AdLib compatibility simply because it was the same circuit. I'm...

Wing Commander SNES Prototype Salvaged (January 13, 2017)

Better cover up those EPROM windows with dark tape ASAP. While you usually use an eraser to erase them in 20 minutes, normal sunlight will erase them over a span of a day or so. And unless the cover was on them who knows how long they've been exposed - even uncovered they may have slowly erased...

We come in peace at Goteborg’s Symphony Orchestra

I'm no classical music fan. In fact, for the most part, I usually detest it (usually they're just stuffy formal attire events). Which is ironic since I love orchestral music, especially soundtracks (movie scores and videogames) - they are my favorite kind of music. I So I've been to many...

Wing Commander Discounted Up To 85%! (December 6, 2016)

I was logged in. I know that because it shows up in my "Already Purchased" column. If I select them (to gift to a friend say), it wants just under $20 for the entire collection.
