Disable sound accelleration. If you have a SBLive card with LW3 drivers you are out of like. There are compartiblity issues between LW3 and DirectX 8.x which CL has never fix. CL has release XP update drivers for XP, but I doubt it fix those issues.

Out side updating all your drivers, chipset, run defrig, and disable all programs. I have no other suggestion.

yakitori, you didn't state what sound card you have. If you can't find the dosstart.bat that o'kay. Happy, wrong about the dosstart.bat. Win9x will only create this file if it's have DOS drivers that can be place in it. No DOS drivers, no dosstart.bat. This is becoming more common. Cheap PCs...
