I've got pictures bookmarks somewhere of someone's Lego USS Nimitz (I think)

Oh Jeez, what's he done now...

I'm going to have to share these with some of my mates, especially the ones who actually play Sins of a Solar Empire

Oh Jeez, what's he done now...

This review has had me killing myself with laughter. I look forward to the next one

So, what else is GOOD on GOG?

I got the Gabriel Knight series from GOG (Okay, Blood of the Sacred Blood of the Damned works fine on my PC running Windows XP but I've not tried it on Windows 7 yet and I'm up-grading soon), Farcry (I guess I'm one of the few who liked that game) and both Freespace games. Wing Commanders are...

Calling all CIC members in the UK

I'd be interested in doing a meet, just as soon as I'm back on my feet with a job that is.

Teething trouble probably. Hey last time I checked I was 2nd LT!

    What a novel conversation!

I went with Freedom Flight as I totally loved the pairing of Hunter and Kurha. I kinda wish they'd been able to do more with Kurha. And there's always the wonderful moment in Freedom Flight where Hunter's been challenged to prove himself worthy of being a master of a Kilrathi, kicked his...

In hindsight, the Wing Commander movie was a masterpiece.

It was Captain Sansky, but you're right, he was a named character. And there's Knight for all of about 10 seconds in the film too. Edit AD beat me to it

    Selling tons of old games

I'd love to get the Independence Wars and Tachyon off you, but sadly my budget for computer games for the month has already been spent

Dead genres and the reason they died

There's a novel? Have to look for that.

Dead genres and the reason they died

If they are going with a 60s setting then they'll be rewriting X-COM's history a bit as it was always said to be created in 1999. Unless they're doing it as a reboot and scraping everything from Enemy Unknown through to Apocalypse, which would make things easier I suppose

Trojan IV Naval Yard Gets Busy (July 12, 2011)

First time I saw the name I thought it stood for Low On Afterburner Fuel. And I think the black on white name looks better

Dead genres and the reason they died

Well one of the X-Com games they cancelled, Alliance, was meant to be a FPS game with the research side of things between missions. And they managed to do Interceptor which was flight sim with Research and base management things.

Dead genres and the reason they died

Okay, I should really pay more attention to that sort of stuff. Although I have been busy lately

Dead genres and the reason they died

Considering they've been promising us that for years, you'll forgive me if I don't hold my breath. They've cancelled the promised game at least once already

In hindsight, the Wing Commander movie was a masterpiece.

This was a fact I liked about the film, the "lived in" look. The fighters looked like they'd been in combat, the uniforms looked like they'd been issued a while ago, the hanger deck looked like they'd had fuel spills and god know what else all over the deck. All too often you see in sci-fi...

The one thing where Wing Commander was far better than most popular Sci-Fi

    That's probably a joke that I don't get isn't it?

The one thing where Wing Commander was far better than most popular Sci-Fi

The Aliens in War of the Worlds weren't evil, they were desperate. Their world was dying and they needed a new home. As they were more advanced than Humanity they didn't see them as being more than vermin. And the book ends with a note about the Martians landing on Venus, and the narrator hopes...
