Answer me this time please people..

WC1 uses launch tubes, as well, which is a point that has been mentioned prior to this. So I think you need to rethink this particular argument for denigrating WCP. You also keep overlooking the biggest advantage of the Midway's tubes. The ONLY situation in which the speed that you can get a...

Any New Plans For WC Games?

Perhaps, but that's not the reason that Doom 3 is being hyped. Its being hyped because of its wonderful graphics, cut scenes, etc... And to be frank, it takes a more than mindless slaughter to make a good FPS anymore. AvP 2 is a pretty good fps. But I hear that the expansion is pretty bad.

Heh. Thanks. Didn't think that would be a problem.

You know, I'm just a little curious. I'm fairly certain that there's nothing in my piece that I wrote that can be inferred to mean that taking off under full afterburn will rip the wings off your fighter. However, since you obviously saw something along those lines, and bothered to reply to...

Any New Plans For WC Games?

The recent Farscape game (which is a tactical squad based game, iirc - not exactly WC compatible) is what put me in mind of this. I haven't got a clue what form another game might take, but it is a thought. The important thing about this, imho, is that it would revive the value of the brand...

Modern fighters can get off a ship under their own power, as well. Doesn't mean that catapults don't give them a huge advantage. And have you played WCP? You jabber on and on about how catapults don't provide any speed advantage, but if you actually took the time to think about how they work...

Any New Plans For WC Games?

Yes, and no, imho. There is a critical threshold at which I suspect EA would make a new WC game no matter what, but I suspect the show would have to have popularity levels beyond those of Babylon 5 in order to have that occur... But even moderate popularity would probably cause someone at EA...

*snip* A few odds and ends... First you tell hasselich to disregard WC and focus on Real World. Then you use WC to try and shoot down my point. Make up your mind... As for catapult acceleration, we may not have a catapult today that can launch a fighter that fast, but the Midway has a...

Once again, in fighter combat, speed=life, whether that be in a WC style furball, or an Newtonian-style duel (as seen in Independence War). At bare minimum, catapults serve some very important functions. They help get the fighter's speed up so the fighter isn't a sitting duck on take-off...

Answer me this time please people..

The only thing that could possibly be lengthy about a catapult launch would be due to time spent prepping the catapult and positioning the fighter for launch. The actual launch procedure, of course, goes slightly faster, due to the fact that the fighter is moving off the carrier at a much...

Any New Plans For WC Games?

If they have any brains, they'll position the game where it will make them the most money. If the TV show is a success, and EA decides to restart the series, expect to see a game that's somehow tied to the story of the TV show. Of course, depending on how the licensing arrangement was worked...

    Worst movie, ever.

Haven't seen Atlantis, so I can't comment on that, but Lilo and Stitch was a hoot.

Any New Plans For WC Games?

Elite's got a kind of odd status. I don't think I've ever seen it in a store, and among many gamers, its not very well known. But if you're into space sims, chances are that you've heard of it, and it has a fairly fanatical following. Its similar in concept to Privateer, with I-War physics...

    Wing Commander Movie DVD

Actually, the region free "bug" was dealt with through a BIOS update, iirc. I can't remember how it was implemented, though.

How did Mark Hamil get a guest starring as

On one of the anime mailing lists I post to there is the usual griping and complaining about American censorship of anime on CN. Then every now and again, someone brings up the British example, where iirc, they'll even censor animated DVDs and videos for private viewing, and the complaining...

How did the Sivar whack that colony again?

Was that a Sivar class dreadnaught? Or was it a Sivar class dreadnought? The spelling of the last syllable is very important. One is a small ship wrapped around a planet killing gun, while the other is a 22km long super vessel.

How did the Sivar whack that colony again?

Not that I'm aware of. Since it only really directly impacts the plot once (and off-screen, at that), and is never used again, its not something that you're likely to see ever depicted.

How did the Sivar whack that colony again?

Something like the Sivar could also be a very dangerous ship - for the Kilrathi. IMHO, it would actually be more useful as the bait for a trap than it would in a planetary destruction role. There's no way that Confed would allow one even remotely close to the front lines for fear that it would...

    Wing Commander Movie DVD

Just a few quick notes on multi-region DVD players. One type of multi-region DVD player doesn't check for the region. This can actually backfire, because some of the film companies have gotten wise to this, and supposedly designed their DVDs to not play if the player doesn't check. Another...

How did Mark Hamil get a guest starring as

Think of it more as a movie that's based on a WB Cartoon. The animation is the same, but they went ahead and blew a little more money on the opening. And the Batman shows are probably the darkest American animated TV shows you're likely to see. Just showing the victim's of the Joker's...
