    Pacific Strike.....WWII Wing Commander?

I think that was kind of the point. They specifically wanted to back away from giving you that sort of control, along with some of the other features added in 3, and get back closer to the original. As far as talking to enemy pilots goes... Well... Obviously, language difficulties were the...

Anyone ever wish for a true WC RTS game?

Could be, although terrorists are hardly something new in computer games. I doubt there will be any direct allusions to 9/11, however. Westwood IS the company that delayed the RA2 add-on because it had the New York skyline in the background. Next month should be a good one for computer...

    Mace in WC4

Poet laurete? No, can't say I'm looking for that. This is, however, the first post on this topic that looks as if you finished 3rd grade spelling. What I find absolutely incredible is that while you can take the time to realize that the topic has changed to the Mace missile (which suggests...

    Mace in WC4

Or, you could, like, you know, READ THE PAGE YOU POSTED TO! No fuss, no muss, no search. Merely a process of reading. Of course, if you read as poorly as you write...

    Space Sim news?

While I haven't played it, from what I've heard, E&B is more RPG than space combat sim. I was actually accepted for the beta, but I couldn't get the patch to complete. Fun... There's a demo of something called Star Wraith 3 over at the Adrenaline Vault. I don't know anything about the game...

    Mace in WC4

Oddly enough, scrolling a mere four posts in this EXACT SAME THREAD down found this WONDERFUL explanation about how to get the Mace in WCIV. I remember one individual who posts on a message board I frequent and used the circled "search" link from the message board as his sig because of how...

    Privateer 3 Online?

Earth and Beyond is pure Westwood, afaik, which is one of the many companies owned by EA.

    What would you do?

Guess that just wasn't a big deal for me. I'd already seen stuff like that elsewhere (Jedi Knight had droids that would travel a little ways and open doors for you, for example). Half Life had more of it than any other game up to that point, but that's really about it. *shrug* And the AI...

    What would you do?

That's the thing, though. The much hyped "story" in Half-Life wasn't really all that much. There's a disaster involving another dimension that sets aliens loose, the military is trying to kill you, and there's an unexplained guy in a suit who manages to walk through the entire complex one step...

    What would you do?

There was a story behind the game, but it really wasn't much of one. Valve just did a slightly better job of disguising the buttons you push, added a mysterious guy in a suit who's always one step ahead of you, and called it a story. And the last few levels (the ones on the alien world) were...

    Israel

Netanyahu is still very much alive, and struggling with Sharon for control of the Likud party in Israel. I know who you're thinking of, but I can't remember his name off the top of my head.

    What would you do?

Eh... Never really cared for Half-Life, and I played both the original and Opposing Force. It had its plusses, but I never really saw what other people liked about it. Some of the ones I liked... Shogo - probably the giant robot angle is what attracted me. A fun game, although the AI was...

    The Two Towers Poll

Much as I like C.S. Lewis, I really don't think this would be a good idea. Out of the Silent Planet and Perelandrea wouldn't really make good movies, imho. The third novel (name escapes me) might, but without the other two, its not quite the same.

    happy ners yeads

Hmm? DNF is vaporware, and will be until its released. Technically, ALL software titles can be considered vaporware until they're actually released, although only some (including DNF) really deserve the connotations that go along with that. Daikatana, by dint of the fact that it was actually...

    Spacecraft Jumps

Quite frankly, its all theoretical right now. We don't know if there are any wormholes within a useable distance of us. We're only guessing at the stability, as we've never seen one or the evidence of one (they may not even exist). And we don't know what kind of special equipment might be...

    Starlancer Capital Ships

The only ships that have ever been close to unique in Star Trek are the old Constitution-class (TOS Enterprise) and the Sovereign-class (TNG movies Enterprise). During the TV show, there were only 13 of the former, iirc, and there aren't that many Sovereign-class ships. That might just be...

    Starlancer Capital Ships

Part of the problem with that is that many of the larger ships (particularly the carriers) only have one or two ships per class. Thus, you have a much larger than usual number of capital ship types.

    Spacecraft Jumps

Accelerate yourself up to close to the speed of light (and we can't get anywhere near it right now), and the trip would only take a few years from your perspective. There's also the idea of cryogenic freezing as a possible way of allowing someone to live through the trip. Note that I never...

    Spacecraft Jumps

Suggested methods of Interstellar travel, and how well they work with modern physics. 1.) Slower Than Light Ships (STL) - basically, keep going until you get there. Just don't mind the years long travel time to the nearest star system. This would work, although don't plan on a round trip...

What were the worst injustices in the Wing Commander Movie?

Erm... Its being compared to a torpedo, not a cap ship missile. Torpedoes are MUCH smaller than cap ship missiles. Ergo, even with the cloak installed on the Skipper, there's still almost certainly more room for the warhead than there is on a torpedo.
