Well, theoretically the alien weapon could be mounted on anything with a large and somewhat flat surface. And if not, temporary "scaffolding" could be added to make it possible.

I already downloaded it individually and I never see a bar when I try to install it so you're probably right. (Goes off to delete said folders).

I don't remember doing that mission to be too hard. Are you having some sort of trouble? If so, then just drop 1 mine next to each jump point it doesn't matter how many you drop if I remember correctly.
Waitaminit, WTF? It won't let me play on the basis that "You have to have OpenAL 1.1 or newer installed" which I have installed, any possible explanations?

Cockpits added immersion. It helped you to feel like you were inside a cockpit instead of a freely floating entity that shoots lasers. This among many other things was what made WC so fun was being totally engrossed in this awesome Sci-Fi movie.
