There are alot of things that factor in. 1) each nav has a differant percentage chance of pirates than others . Some are very active and get alot of pirates. 2) your difficulty level. I always use all my missiles during the first couple of battles anyway and then get to use guns to finish the missions. It always bugs me to have weapons that I'm not using so I pop missiles first.

*LOL* I always took him out as soon as I could in WC1 and in every other game. If you get away from your cap ship and ace him on the first mission he isn't a problem for the rest of the time.

I wondered the same thing but the Cats don't have Tach's on thier fighters and I saw some tach shots coming from the side of my ship while flying against them. I even caught one after it made a few shots when I switched over and the guns hadn't fully recharged yet
