    Confederation at War

Sorry that I haven't read this entire thread... Though I loved the WC Movie there are too many inconsistencies for it to be considered "true canon." When I first saw it, I felt like Chris basically abandoned the actual WC canon to make something he thought would suck in the average, non-WC...

    The WC grape board

If I repeat things that were already said, it's for emphasis... WC1 - Even though the wingmen were TERRIBLE (I usually had about 5 times more kills than the best Claw pilot - and in about 1/3 the number of sorties) I wish they would Eject when they were in trouble. Instead they died, and the...

    Jump Point Defense

In WC3 were also able to "shield" a jump point (Freya I think) which hardly made much sense to me except just another mission to fly to destroy the generator. The mission briefinf made it look like there was a shield over the actual buoy itself, which would do nothing since (as said before) the...

    Capital ship engagements

IIRC the Mace did more damage than the Starburst. The only problem was the safety range was longer, so if you were trying to hit a closer target you'd overshoot it completely.

kilrathi saga wc1 and wc2 question

My thoughts exactly. With setting of game difficulty not available till WC3, they are too easy to even warrant using invincibility. In fact IMO the only hard missions are the Kurasawa mission in WC1 and the destroy Ralatha w/ Jazz mission in WC2, but even those can be beat after a few tries.

    Capital ship engagements

IIRC there are NO capship battles in WC1. It's been awhile since I played the originial WC1, but I know in KS many capships (including the Snakeir so-called "attack carrier") just sits there w/o firing a single flak shot, waiting to be plucked outta space. The Ralari and Fralthi do fire...

    Capital ship engagements

The lesser of two evils comes into play here, since using the flashpak on the Vesuvius implies that you opted *not* to use it aginst the Ella superbase and kill the civillians. So yeah, it is more fun to FP the Vesuvius (unless you like the Black Lance "winning" ending.) If I had to go against...

    Question about Jazz

Well it didn't work with Hobbes; too bad Cobra had to die to get her point across...

A thought on the Rachel Flint debate

Blurring definitely would've been better. I've been drunk too (years ago) and my skills never Reversed....maybe a lil slower, but not backwards because you can feel yourself moving when you pull the stick and you can feel yourself going the wrong way even when you're drunk. I don't know if...

    bloopers?

Too bad there wasn't an entire CD like they had for WC3 (Behind the Screens); that's still a fav of mine in rotation. There's probably bits and pieces here and there that could be compiled, but with the disarray ORIGIN and EA went through over the years who knows if it can still be salvaged...

Evidence from WC4 that Blair is a Pilgrim

IMHO the Pilgrim ideal was a completely unnecessary addition to the WCM and would not have been missed if removed. The spinoff books blew it all outta proportion, making everything drift away from the original story. Don't get me wrong, I love the movie (except for the idea that a Snakeir...

A thought on the Rachel Flint debate

Yeah it's fun the first time around, but it's suuuch a long mission that having the directions switch every five seconds starts to get unnerving. It *is* kinda cool gettin chewed out by Flint when you land. OF course I always gotta put her in her place, hey, I'M the WC here. Back off, I'm...

Toughest ace to beat in WC (any)

None of the WC aces are tough as far as ship-to-ship. The difficulty comes in the scenario, as in your wingman (or lack thereof) vs how many he has, and the type of enemy ships. For example, Kur's tough because Hobbes is no help and Kur and his wingmen are flying Grikath with those pesky...

    A question in morality

I didn't trust Hobbes when I first played WC2 because I thought he was shooting my Rapier. But I got over it when I realized that ALL of your wingmen do it!!! (Especially Spirit, I HATED flying with her, even though I liked her on the carrier.) Even after I had come to trust Hobbes and he...

    Question about Jazz

Yes, that does make sense. I wish they had set that up better though, instead of leaving it to guesswork...

    Privateer 2 The Darkening

P2 works just fine on my XP system with the patch and the compatibility mode set to 98. So a remake would mean very little to me.

    Torpedo runs in WC2

I'd rather use the Mace, especially the SO2 version cause it was stronger than a torp and could take out any capship with one shot and no lock (which would make sense since it's a nuke.) In WC4 it's about half as strong but at least it has a safety so you don't have to set it off with your guns...

    Question about Jazz

Perhaps, but how classified was the Agincourt? You fly with it on an escort mission (the second WC2 mission where you face Strakha) so if Blair knows about the Agincourt, why not the higher ranking Jazz?

    How Old is Thrakheth?

In "Victory Streak" Hobbes is listed as being in his late 20s. If this is not another typo/contradiction then that would have made him pretty mature being a Captain of a Fralthi in 2654, 15 years earlier. Hobbes comments on Flash to Eisen, saying that "youth and wisdom are rarely combined," so...

    Privateer 2 Music

I remember the music pretty well, but then again I'm a musician so that kinda stuff sticks. The music really took a swan dive from P1; actually, the game as a whole took a dive, but I still play it.
