    Midway Class: Undergunned?

The Midway is a *CARRIER.* It doesn't NEED heavy guns - just enough air-defense guns to keep the bad guys' fighters away until it can get its point defense ships in the air. If a carrier is directly threatened by enemy capital ships, it's in grave danger.

    Canon? Official? Apocrypha?

Because the Border Worlds needed him as an Admiral, so they gave him the rank of Vice Admiral. However, his commission in Confed was at the rank of Captain, so when he came out of retirement and got his commission reactivated, he returned to service at his last active rank - Captain.

    Question for WC war vets...

Fighting a Vaktoth with a T-Bolt was a real rush - the two craft had such similar performance characteristics that it came down to the skill of the individual pilots to determine who won. IMHO, the T-Bolt really needed another pair of missiles AT LEAST, though. :)

    Canon? Official? Apocrypha?

Wilford was a Vice Admiral in the Border Worlds fleet, but he only held Captain's rank in Confed. No contradiction.

    Kilrathi War.

PC Gamer - July, 2000, page 76, interview with Chris Roberts: So there you have it, straight from the horse's mouth.

    Kilrathi War.

There is no canon evidence to support the the supposition that Confed committed war atrocities as a matter of government policy (are you playing a different series of games than I am??). When during the war did Confed commit atrocities on its own civilians? I specify during the war because...

    Canon? Official? Apocrypha?

As far as I can tell, this is the canon order for WC: CANON: The games. These cannot be contradicted by any other source. OFFICIAL: The novels and the movie. These have the effective status of canon when not directly contradicted by the games, but must be discarded in favor of the game...

    Kilrathi War.

Thrakhath didn't specify *human* slaves. He merely said that the Kilrathi have no shortage of slaves. At any rate, this is more evidence against the Kilrathi: Unlike humanity, they enslave alien races (we merely exploit them economically - a far better policy if you ask me. ;)).

    Kilrathi War.

Re-read "Fleet Action." At the end of Fleet Action, when the Kilrathi launch their doomsday offensive at the Earth, they declare this to be a war of total annihilation - every human man, woman and child, whether fighter pilot or military commander or helpless civilian, is to be utterly...

    Kilrathi War.

In WC4, the cats STILL EXIST. If the Cats had won the war, they would have annihilated humanity as a matter of government policy. Humanity would have been not just beaten by the Kilrathi, but EXTERMINATED by the Kilrathi. Still sure that humans are no better than the cats?

    Kilrathi War.

What's with the cat symps??? What's with all the cat symps around here, anyway? Why is it that these people think humans are no better than Kilrathi? I can think of the single best reason for fighting the Kilrathi: The continued existence of the human race - not just as an expanding...

Who was the best ship captain in your opinion?

Captain Eisen is, IMHO, the best Captain in the Wing Commander series. Always ready with a bit of comradely good advice and wisdom, and equally ready to lay everything on the line for the Confederation he loved so dearly. Honestly, I don't think very many captains can beat Eisen; he was just...

    New Ships....

The Dragon isn't agile enough to be a "perfect" fighter - it's barely got the same YPR as a Hellcat. The Excalibur was better; the Bearcat is MUCH more my speed (I prefer to dazzle the enemy by running circles around them, and the Bearcat has more than enough shielding to take whatever stray...

What's the most powerful Confed cap ship?

Prophecy era fighters vs. TIEs isn't a battle, it's a massacre. Shielded, fast, maneuverable, strong and tough, the Confed fighters would mop the floor with TIEs. Now against New Republic fighters, things would be a bit different.

What's the most powerful Confed cap ship?

I'd like to see it... but I'd like to know when we got onto this tangent about Star Wars stuff, anyway.

What's the most powerful Confed cap ship?

Re: Oh also Here is the only site that matters as far as Star Wars technical commentary goes: http://www.theforce.net/swtc/ <= Dr. Curtis Saxton's "Star Wars Technical Commentaries." The single most exhaustive website on the topic. If only we had a similar website for Wing Commander.
