    Minor issue with mouse

Ok, I've got a P4 3.2 ghz, 2 gig ram ... my mouse jerks like no tomorrow. Sigh. I'm going to try a few changes and see if the help, but the jerking mouse is a deal breaker. Realized that my system doesn't support a non-usb joystick. Maybe I'll have to get one of those.

    How good is 1.0?

Is it still that hard in a Demon with gimbals and with a few wingmen? I'm curious, from the posts I've read.

General Thoughts on the Remake ...

I don't know the code involved. Without the change, the tachyon cannon can't be beat until you start RF and get fusion cannons.

That is a bug then, the Centurion's armor and mass should let you ram more than once.

    Militia Paradigms?

Hmm, in the original, there were never random Kilrathi in the Perry system (only mission enemies) and lots of confed ships.

    Palan Mission 1

If you string a large group out chasing you, they often fire on you without regard for anyone who might be in the way, and they sometimes collide, setting up fights.

    What I've done so far...

Here I was, reading posts and getting ready to note this and it turns out someone beat me to it.

    Militia Paradigms?

That is my own, completely BS theory, though it makes sense on a number of levels and makes the ecology of the game suddenly work very well.

    Militia Paradigms?

Well, there was a little bit of forerunner/Steltek nanotechnology still active when they came to the sector. Someone set down a talon on what turned out to be the imaging disk for the nanotech fab plant and it has been turning out talons ever since. That is why pirates and retros and militias...

Or, if you are doing point defense, photon torps. One hit from your guns and one torp will do any demon.

    3rd Oxford Mission

Doublechecked my walk-through. Two Heatseakers ... The lock only on the back of a Demon and if you pop it with your guns and fire two, they will always hit in the same sector. Knew I was forgetting something. If you are a good shot, one photon torpedo ... Just as an fyi Note...

General Thoughts on the Remake ...

Oh, BTW, the tachyon cannons actually have different damage in the game than they are listed as having in the playtesters guide. Real damage: Tachyon (.4625 cm/GJ) 3.7 cm, 8 GJ Ionic (.36 cm/GJ) 5.4 cm, 15 GJ Per TI pair (.39565 cm/GJ) 9.1 cm, 23 GJ

General Thoughts on the Remake ...

Origins thought they had the ultimate game engine in WCIII's "reality engine" which worked for III and IV. However, they tried a different one for Privateer. That one had some interesting limits. It could hold only 66 docking locations, for example. On the other hand, they used it to...

    3rd Oxford Mission

Ah, they've changed that. Well, try popping three missles. BTW, can you ram the Demons with your Centurion in the remake? Ramming lighter weight fighters with a Centurion was always a good way to kill one or two in a pinch in the original game.

It should take two missiles to pop a demon. With 20 missiles you ought to be able to pop ten demons. Have they upgraded the lethalness of the missiles?
