    Favorite Capship

In Armada, the carriers (Lexington/Shiraak) had some extraordinarily powerful flak, more powerful than any other WC capship IMO. As long as you had quick combat off and opted to fly yourself, you could cruise around your carrier and it'd kill ALL of the enemy ships, period. (Of course it...

    Favorite fighter from WCP

I always wondered why the target shield readout for the Wasps in your wing never adjusted to indicate the expulsion of the booster pack. Guess the programmers had bigger fish to fry in order to reach their deadline....

Anyone know whatever happened to the "Maniac Missions"? Probably on the KIA list along with P3 and Priv Online eh...

    Favorite Wingman?

You're probably thinking about their on-ship, cinematic characters. Stingray and Jazz always had some smart, confrontational remarks on the ship, but on your wing they always obeyed orders (at least on my WC2!?). Spirit and Angel would obey any attack command, but tell em to back off and all...

    Favorite Fighter WC1 and 2

IMHO the Kilrathi ships in WC2 had stronger firepower than in WC1. The Dralthi, Salthi, and Krant were a majority of the foes you faced, and they all had a measley two laser cannons, whereas WC2 Kilrathi fighters packed a helluva punch. Furthermore, the capships didn't pose a viable threat at...

    Favorite fighter from WC3\4

Proving Grounds - isn't that an Armada add-on?? BTW the anti-cloaking theory was only a joke. If all ships can cloak AND detect cloaking, it defeats the purpose of having the device mounted in the first place...a total waste of ship's power.

    Favorite Fighter WC1 and 2

The Kilrathi did indeed have an advantage in numbers. In WC1-3 (and 4 to some extent), you and your lone wingman were expected to fly through waypoint after waypoint, each filled with dozens upon dozens of fighters and capships. IMHO the Sabre has several significant advantages over the...

    Favorite Wingman?

In WC2 I pretty much liked any wingman that obeyed orders, i.e. Stingray, Jazz, Hobbes. If you tell Spirit, Angel, or Maniac to form on your wing or return to base, they usually refused. This is particulary annoying when there's only one enemy ship left and they're behind you trying to kill...

Privateer: How do you get started?

With some practiced timing, you can fire a couple of Proton Torpedoes as soon as you confront a foe (5000 m is best range) and destroy them consistently before they can fire off a volley or launch a missile.

If all WCP craft had mounted cloaking devices, perhaps all Nephilim ships had advanced detection technology.... OKAY you got me, I'm being sarcastic

    Favorite fighter from WCP

The Wasp. It has missiles for days, excellent speed and manueverability, and packs a punch that'll give the Panther and the Vampire a run for their money. Too bad they were only used for carrier defense missions -- I got pretty tired of flying the Panther for virtually every mission...

    Favorite Fighter WC1 and 2

I thought I was the only one! Kinda makes you have a lil more respect for the Kilrathi...Terran ships are tough nuts to crack. My fav ship is the Sabre, undoubtedly. The added ships in SO1 & 2 never really impressed me; the Crossbow is basically a watered down Broadsword. Its only...

Privateer: How do you get started?

I'm probably the only one that does this... When starting Priv, I always sell my Iris MK-II and buy a MK-I for an extra 10,000 credits. True, you won't be able to lock targets and can only buy HS missiles, but with the 10,000 you can afford 2 Meson Blasters and a Proton Torpedo Launcher...

Since no one else seems to be enthusiastic about keeping this thread alive here's my stab at it... How many and what type of guns are mounted on the Sorthak superfighter? (Hint: The WC3 Mission Guide specs are not correct)

Origins of the Church of Man

Was it ever mentioned in Privateer what exactly brought about the Retro movement, or what events and individuals pioneered the cult? It is puzzling how an "organization" like the Church of Man can arise and evolve so quickly, and yet their fanaticism seems to surpass even that of the...

    Running Privateer/rf/armada/pg In Windows: Howto

Yes, I know things might be a tad easier if I had a high-end machine....but the thing is, EVERYTHING runs slow in VirtualPC, not just Privateer. I have tried the simplest, less-than-3MB-in-size DOS games and they all run slowly, graphics and sound. In fact, even the sound by itself stutters...

    Running Privateer/rf/armada/pg In Windows: Howto

Privateer too slow using VirtualPC Setting up a Dos system on VirtualPC is NOT easy at all....I had to pull out every old DOS trick I know to get it established, free some upper memory, and transfer as many drivers into upper memory as possible to conserve conventional memory. I finally got...
