What made Maniac such an asshole in WC3?

The problem is that their relationship in WC3 is presented as if they have a long known history of hatred and rivalry. It comes out of nowhere. "inconsistencies in the characters" is one thing, but this is something completely different. It's as if a buddy cop film ends with the two cops...

Which language version of WC do you prefer?

Interesting, the German version has a different... tone. The Colonel says in the English version that Hobbes was the "finest man he has ever known" While in the German version it is: "And although he wasn't a terran, he was the noblest creature that I have known"

What made Maniac such an asshole in WC3?

Blair was a Colonel in SO2 and Maniac didn't seem to care much about that.

What made Maniac such an asshole in WC3?

The first Wing game that I have played was Wing Commander 3, and I assumed that the reason for the hostilities between Maniac and Blar were explained in the previous games. I have recently played WC1 + WC2 and all the addons and I am baffled - there is no reason for Maniac's behaviour...

    There's Always (A New) Hope (June 26, 2010)

The easter island-heads could be from "Super Mario Land", the first Mario game for the Game Boy:

Best ways to win the last SO1 mission

It seems that the last Special Operations 1 mission (many Gothris and two Fralthra) is one of the hardest in the franchise. How have you beaten it? My way: I have slowed down the game (with alt +) and then used my rear turret to destroy the Gothris. I think it's the easiest way to do this...

Has the wing commander movie killed the franchise?

It was a religion? I thought they were a human sub-species, who have special abilities that help them navigate in space better than normal humans. Anyway, it was explained poorly (especially why they are so hated) and took valuable time away. It would have been much better if there would be...

Has the wing commander movie killed the franchise?

Well, WC3 had at least a end-of-the-world feeling to it. While the movie had the theme supposedly too (cats got coordinates to the earth) you never feel, that the earth is in danger in the movie. Well, I see there are quite a lot of fans of the movie, but, even you must agree: The...

Has the wing commander movie killed the franchise?

The WC4 kilrathi were hideous too. I said that too. My words: "Speaking of puppets, why do they look in WC4 worse than in WC3 and in the movie a magnitude worse than in WC4? I know Roberts had some issues with the WC3 puppets.. so his solution was to make them worse?! " Their peak was...

Has the wing commander movie killed the franchise?

I just watched some parts of the movie again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=257oqlKpKe8&feature=related I admit, the battles look better than I remember them (the kilrathi look still bad).

Has the wing commander movie killed the franchise?

Yes, exactly. And that's my point. The movie kilrathi are THE TYPICAL FUGLY EVIL SPACE ALIENS. They are not memorable at all. There are tons of fugly space monsters. The good thing about the game kilrathi was that they weren't fugly and had a memorable look.

Has the wing commander movie killed the franchise?

Why were space sims on their way out? I know it happened, but what was the reason? I don't think it's because of the "nerd" factor - A FPS is not so different from a space sim, and we have a ton of first person shooters now. And I think RPG's like Mass Effect are more nerdy than WC ever was...

Has the wing commander movie killed the franchise?

I am not talking about casting Hamill and Wilson again (though, they would have been better than what we got), but Prinze and Lillard? Especially Freddie felt like an "alien" in a sci-fi movie. It's not like there is a shortage of young actors in hollywood. I think Edward Furlong would have been...

Has the wing commander movie killed the franchise?

Ah, I don't think so. The general public wasn't fond of the movie too. The alien puppets were ridiculous. The kilrathi from WC3 look better. The plot was confusing. The whole "under water" feeling just didn't work. The special effects seemed to be better in WC4 than in the film (quite a...

Has the wing commander movie killed the franchise?

Didn't freelancer sell well? But yes, I can remember that Freespace 2 (a great game) flopped. No idea why this genre died. Was it because the need for a joystick? And no, the movie sucks. The cutscenes from wing commander 3 and 4 are more interesting to watch than the movie. Show some...

Has the wing commander movie killed the franchise?

When prophecy came out, origin promised that it's the first part in a new trilogy. Well, you all know how that promise turned out... As far as I remember, WCP sold well, so why was the franchise killed off? Was it because the movie tarnished the reputation?

WC3: Was Cobra a traitor too?

Never read the book. In the game it sounds as if she escaped alone, without a marine raid. "she was in a slave labor camp, not on a prison planet. Slaves were fully integrated into Kilrathi society" But according to the in-game video it sounds like a nazi concentration camp...

WC3: Was Cobra a traitor too?

The first time I played WC3 and it was obvious that there as a traitor (the scene where Thrakkath gets the info about the Behemoth) my first suspect was Cobra. Well, later it was found out who the real traitor was.. but, Cobra's story is still fishy: She was captured when she was ten...

How can the Kilrathi be clueless about the temblor bomb IF you don't pursue Hobbes?

So there was aother high positioned spy who told them about the temblor bomb? Sounds far fetched. The prince's assistant seems to be genuinely clueless what exactly the scientist's specialities were: --- MELEK The apes took but one prisoner. His skills are technical - - scientific in...

How can the Kilrathi be clueless about the temblor bomb IF you don't pursue Hobbes?

This cutscene appears exactly the same regardless whether Hobbes successfully escapes or not. And, yes indeed, Thrakkath waits for you above Kilrah, regardless whether you shot down Hobbes or not... Does that mean that Thrakkath does know about the temblor bomb, even if Blair pursues Hobbes...
