Common Issues

Error Messages

"ADDRESS ERROR ON" (Screen Dump)
Please check the game CD for any scratches, smears or marks. Power down your PlayStation and let it sit idle for thirty seconds. Restart the game from your last saved game.

"ALLOC FAILED"
Something in your most recent mission has caused a corruption of memory. Please power-down the PlayStation unit and allow it to sit idle for several seconds. Restart the game and see if the problem persists. If it does, you may need a replacement game CD.

"BUS DATA LOAD\STORE" (Screen Dump)
This error generally appears if there is physical damage to the game CD. Turn off the PlayStation unit and check the game disk for any marks or scratches. Restart the game from your latest save.

"INVALID MESSAGE SET TO CAPSHIP PILOT"
Generally, if you set up your Video Display Unit (VDU) to display 'Power' or 'Communications' screens, this error can occur after long periods of gameplay. Set the in-flight VDU to 'Shields' instead of 'Power.'

General

My game Locks for no apparent reason!
Try cleaning the game CD. Look for any marks or scratches, smudges or other blemishes. If you have a CD-cleaning kit, please use it to ensure that the Wing Commander disk is clean. Make sure that you also do the necessary cleaning and maintenance of your PlayStation unit.

Sound

When I'm watching a movie, there is no sound... or the sound loops
Again, this is a problem with the disk media. Make sure that it is clear of any visible marks. Watch the movie a second time and see if it continues to skip, pause or run without sound. If the problem persists, you may need to have a replacement disk sent to you.

Hints

I'm at Kilrah, but there is an ENDLESS wave of enemy fighters!
You'll need to cloak earlier than you did on this mission:

Go to Nav-point 1 and kill all enemies.

Do the same thing at Nav-point 2. When you're done, send your wingmen home.

Continue to Nav 3. Destroy all enemies and then CLOAK!

Autopilot to Nav-point 4. Meet Thrakath and Hobbes! (and kill them!)

I have to defend Earth in the SOL system. When I autopilot, I get nabbed by Kilrathi!
This is the 'losing' path for the game. Things have gone very, very badly for Colonel Blair, and Kilrah has won the war. Go back several saved games and try to win the missions that you did not complete before. This should set you on the 'winning' path.
