It's Not Easy Being Green (March 10, 2006)

... but wait, there's more! Remember Marc's WC2-style Coventry-type Destroyer (details here) and Victory-type Light Carrier (details here)? Well, they've been joined by the obvious third: a WC2-style Ajax-type Cruiser! Check it out below. You can also find a spinning animation of his Ranger here. Awesome stuff!

Maybe there could be some wc2 style capships from wc3 in Standoff.

Very nice. A WC2 Durgano would be cool.

I made a really quick model of it (there isn't anything modeled on the underside of this thing)

and then I gave it the WC2 paint job... nothing exceptionnal about it though.

The Durango is the Intrepid, of course.

ok... let me put it another way. Does anyone have any reference materiel on the Durango-Class destroyer named Intrepid that was featured in WC4? (profile view, top view, anything that is other than those innacurate angle views that always mix me up)

Crap, I made five views of the Intrepid and the Tango last week...

... and left them on my computer in Texas. If no one else has anything, I'll post them when I get back next week.

Awesome! Thank you very much, Marc!

I'm fascinated with the Paradigm, the design still looks too alien for a terran ship.

Very pretty... I think it might be better, though, if you retexture it completely. I mean, right now you've just swapped blue for green - but I think it might look more WC2-like if you make most of the hull green, Gilgamesh-style. Additionally, the glowing green strip should really be glowing red on a WC2 capship.

Worth noting, perhaps, that the Origin FX 'TCS Paradigm' screensaver is set in 2664... and that Paradigm looks like the ones in Privateer. So, perhaps the Privateer paint scheme *is* the WC2 Paradigm.

Good point...

Found it! took me a while but I managed to find a CIC-News thread on fan-made WC4 models released a couple of years back. Was so exited I closed the window before reading the name of the modeler- dam.
But the important thing to remember is that it's not mine... but I can get to work on making mine

Sure, but this isn't really about which paint scheme is appropriate where and when - it's more a question of what the Paradigm would have looked like had it been made specifically for WC2, with a paintjob matching the rest of the WC2 ships.

WOW great work.

I know most people are doing it with the old WC I and II model but the one thing I don’t like is the width of the panel lines. In the past it was necessary to have them that wide because of the low resolution but that’s not necessary now and I think it detracts from the details you’ve made. My 2cents.

Great work though. Wish I could do that.

I'd be interested in seeing a model of the Durango from before it was converted to a carrier. It should look different than it did in WC4. I think The Price of Freedom book says it looked like a destroyer that had a launch bay welded onto it (or something along those lines).

I don't know what that could mean, unless the original didn't had the middle part. I suppose you could simply remove the launch bay from the model.

It comes from the game's script, IIRC, which claims the bay was 'slung under" the ship.

Now that I modeled my own version of the destroyer (that original model was a very good starting point), I've only started to play around with the colors. I haven't given it the WC2 treatement yet.
http://img461.imageshack.us/img461/6...rango010de.gif

But about the original configuration, if one did remove the middle part, the one "slung under" the ship, it still doesn't look half bad...

wasn't it two obsolete destroyers welded together through the bridge and the launch bay?

Shouldn't there technically be a section on top of the middle? In wc4 the top decks including the bridge had been blown off. I'd say it wouldnt look half bad with a wc2 style tower somewhere in the middle
