wingman's speaking

Black-Wulf

Rear Admiral
In some missions of Prophecy my wingmen shout out "Fox one". does anyone know what that means? OK I guess it means one kill more but why fox one?

I'm not an expert, but I think saying "Fox one" is telling your wingmates that you are going to launch a specific missile, not necessarily saying that you have had a missile kill.

Can anyone confirm/deny that who knows better?

Yes, that's correct, the various 'fox' calls mean a pilot is going to fire a specific type of missile (FOX ONE is one kind of missile, FOX TWO is another and so forth in that manner).

Not in Wing Commander. In real life Fox One is a semi-active radar guided missile, Fox Two is a heat-seeking missile and Fox Three is an active radar guided missile. I suppose in Wing Commander that'd probably be a Spiculum IR, a Javelin HS and a Pilum FoF, respectively (and there's also Fox Four, which is guns).

Oh, wow. I didn't know this had anything to do with "types" - I always thought it was which salvo was being fired from.

hmph. Learn summin' new every day.
