Wing Commander Prophecy: Secret Ops Model Update Pack

"Are you a fighter pilot?"
"Don't ask someone if they're a fighter pilot! If they are, they'll let you know; if not, don't embarrass them."
"Hey buddy, fighter pukes make movies. Bomber pilots make history!"

Points if you can name the movie....

But on to business: Who wants to devastate? Well now you can! Lay waste to entire bug convoys with your shiny new TB-80 class A bomber! A flying plasma gun with enough missiles, mines, torpedoes, and rockets to seriously ruin someone's day. Of course, it handles like a semi hauling neutronium ingots so pack along a fighter escort...

As usual, I'll post some in game shots when I finish the conversion.

******Edit
Conversion complete. The Devastator is ready to fly. The viewer doesn't allow you to child a child object, so the turret barrels aren't available in the viewer, but they work fine in a mission.

That movie would be Flight of the Intruder.

I miss the old A-6. At least her EW variant is still flying. I still love the scene featuring the AGM-88 HARM missiles. Flying into the lion's teeth to tear off its head. Defoe's performance was one of my favorites.

Loving that Devastator, can't wait to let loose that Plasma gun again.

That would be the AGM-45 Shrike missile the AGM-88 didn't enter service til the eighties and now the venerable EA-6 is being replaced by the F/A-18 G growler not a bad bird able to actually defend itself too. Great movie either way

Just remembered the dialogue, yes it was a Shrike. I stand corrected.

Did someone say "Shrike"?!? Well here's the TB-81 version, not the AGM-45...

As usual - post conversion shots will be appended later.

****Edit

Here are the in-game shots. I'll probably tinker with the spec map, it's a bit strong for my tastes, but overall it works like a champ. Even the turrets didn't give me too much of a hassle. (I must be getting good at this)

Long time, no posting. These are looking great, and I just reinstalled WCP, how long before the rest of us can play with these?

Welcome back and thanks! Optimistically I wanted to have a beta version ready by the CIC's birthday, it would be limited to upgraded Confed fighters and probably the existing nephilim ones, but it wouldn't be a complete neph roster and cap ships aren't ready. However we've hit some snags with stability in later missions causing game crashes so we're working through it.

I dunno if it is helpful - but back in 2009, I recreated the shrike model in 3d, in semi-high res, using the original Prophecy cinematics textures and model as a base. I never did anything with it, nor did anyone else, AFAIK. It might look okay with your other fighters? At least as a reference.

Enjoy.

Ack! It's in the dreaded .3ds format, the bane of blender users everywhere. I don't suppose I could beg you to re-export it in an obj or other format?

Here's my first stab at the Cerberus. Just a basic clay right now - and I need to model the recovery deck, but I think it looks pretty good for a start. Right now it's at a respectable 8.6K faces (20K tris). I'm trying to keep the polys around 10K and I'll have to get creative with the textures since we've hit what appears to be a memory issue in the engine. More to come on it as we go.

Don't be too careful just yet. I might be on to something with the crashes we've been seeing.

Nice work on Cerberus. Nice to see some round edges.

Thanks. Glad to hear that you might have a solution to our 'little' issue. If there were a medal for 'game engine hackery via .DLL' I'd nominate you in a second. :)
