Wing Commander II deluxe edition problems

Using windows vista I cannot get wind commander II to load much less play. Is there a patch or something I need to get my computer to allow it to load? First I click on winstall windows vista prompts me for approval which I click on okay and then it starts to load but then it just stops on it's own. There are several other install prompts and I have tried them all but I cannot get the program to load.

Can you help me?

You need to use dosbox. Follow the instructions here https://www.wcnews.com/techsupport.shtml to install dosbox and get the game running in dosbox.

Got the dosbox but...

Okay I got the dosbox and the graphics are terrible but anyway once I kill off the 3 fighters in the second mission the game stops.:( Any ideas on how to fix that. Also a short cut to running the game would sure be nice if you know how to do that as well. I have to run through the entire install prompt each time cause it will not run from the c: drive. Thanks for answering so quickly.:D

You can edit the dosbox.conf file with all the lines needed to run the game by adding them at the end in the autoexec section. to fix the crash after the first (second?) mission you need to add the loadfix line as well.

Regarding graphics, you're talking about a 15 year old game. THere are some scaling options and stuff you can play with in the dosbox.conf file though that will help to a small degree if you have a large monitor.
 
I'll have to look into that loadfix thing
I just got WC2 deluxe off ebay and once I kill the fighters attacking concordia it stops and eventually gives and error
