Who did you smooch, Flint or Rachel?

Yes, officially Flint dies on the Kilrah run, during the final part of the mission from the last supply depot, when helping Maniac defend Blair against a wing of Vaktoth.

How is that possible? If you don't pick her, she refuses to fly with you. If you DO pick her, she is clearly ALIVE and with you in the shuttle.

Pick her and then don't talk to her in the elevator - she'll still be available for the last mission.

Wing Commander 3 Novelization. Whenever an "official" outcome is referred to, we're talking about the novels, manual timelines, etc.

I just picked neither of them.

I never liked how Flint can just decide not to fly with you though. Hello Flint, excuse me, have you forgotten that you're in the military? She just up and decides "I'm not going to fly with you anymore, screw you."

Yeah, though if you ask her status, she does the whole angry teenage girl thing of the huffy sigh, and saying, "I'm fine".

Man, if there were any options for disciplining for your pilots, she's one I would have come down hard on. "Now, listen here, Lieutenant...

I've always hated how everyone sees their way clear about pushing Blair around, with him just seeming to take it, up to and including a junior officer (Midway's CAG) not letting him fly when he's a flag rank officer. *shrugs*

At least in the case of WCP, Drake may not be of a higher rank than Blair, but her positional authority, as the CAG, is higher than Blair's, who's pretty much only aboard the Midway as an observer.

We see an example of this in the first part of End Run, where the LT in command of the Johnny Greene is within his rights to order the LCDR that was with them for the recon on Vukar Tag to stay in her quarters until the actual recon part of the mission, after her giving the order to go all-out with the unbalanced engines.

Granted, in general, if the higher-ranked officer wanted to make a stink about it, the JO who happens to be in a position of authority over that higher-ranked officer had better have a good reason for their action.

This is because of the Moral hit of the conversation, not the plot outcome. It takes away something like 10 points of Moral, which puts them into 'low spirits.' They fight worse and have different voice comms than 'high spirits.' Try playing the game and being a jerk to everyone, most will be pretty angry near the end of the game.

It's uncomfortable for me to pick either one. Because the game doesn't allow you to do it behind the other's back.

Yeah, pilots not listening to you always gets on my nerves. Maniac and Flint. I would NOT put up with that. That's why I always ground Flint when she goes to fight her private war. You need to have discipline in the service. I'd expect the same thing if I was refusing to follow orders.

Maniac is the worst. He NEVER follows orders, hardly ever. He's a great flyer, but if I get in trouble I am on my own. If it were IRL, Marshall would have been drummed out of the service a LONG time ago...

Aww, come on, how many times in real life have you walked into a bar and found two friends of yours, both stunningly attractive women, and had to choose which of the two you were going to immediately make out with?

..

What, never?

I thought it was fairly interesting they didn't have a love interest for Blair in WC4. I thought the first time through playing that he'd end up hitting it off with Panther or something. But I'm glad there wasn't much of that in the story. There's too many movies where the hero has a love interest and they get together at the end.

The WC4 novelization had a romance between Blair and Sosa. Catscratch was barely mentioned in the book - in fact, I believe he stayed with the Lexington after Blair disabled her.
