Wc1 CapShip Irregularities

After reading Claw Marks, the CIC's Ships database, and several other sources, all give CapShips in Wc1 different armaments. An example: In Claw Marks, the Exeter has 4 laser turrets and an IR Tube. This seemes small for a Destroyer. The Ships database reflects this, but there is also "Classified Weapons" which are never listed. In Fleet Tactics they mention Triple Neutron Turrets and Torpedo tubes. Can anyone clear this up for me?

Also, do the Carrier conversions for the Fralthi and/or Exeter change the amount of armor, shields, or weapons on the ship?

If you see the original Claw Marks blueprints, you'll see this huge-ass triple turret on the Exeter. As for torpedo tubes, it goes without saying that destroyers in WC have torpedoes. This is evidenced most directly by the Ralari having torpedoes in the WCM handbook, while it wasn't referenced at all in Claw Marks.

But I thought Torpedos first appeared in Wc2, and the Ralari only ever used laser turrets against me.

There is some difference between in-universe stats and in-game stats for most of the ships in the game. You kinda have to think "okay, these ships *would* be shooting torpedoes at each other right now" or "this ship *would* be shooting at me with more than 2 laser turrets"

1st) they didn't have the tech to simulate most of the cap ship weaponry. it is obvious that a ship like the exeter is not just armed with a couple of lasers... That is probably why they put "classified" in the Claw Marks.
2nd) Torpedoes existed since long before WC1. It is just that in 2654, fighter guns and missiles were able to punch through the Shields, unlike the time before and after. it is a seesaw effect.
3rd) Fleet Tactics is really cool and relly well done, but it is no canon... I mean that much of its data is used in the Saga fan project, and is not based on any info in canon material.

And to quote psych's disclaimer on the website...

"And last, while I tried to make my project as close to WC as possible, it will be arrogant to say that my stuff is canon. By estimates, the entire page is about 90% canon and 10% made up "liberties". It doesn't matter how much work I put into this to make it an appealing WC experience, the fact still remains that I am just a WC fan and I am not from Origin. In other words, please do not take my work as official canon undebatable information. You are free to read and cherish all you like, but don't rely on it when you discuss it. By this request, I would prefer that you do not make any future arguments about WC and cite information from my website as "canon" to fuel your arguments. And if any newbie tries to argue on any internet forum "yer wrong LOAF, my (insert lame argument here) is right because Fleet Tactics has specifically said that..(insert generic content)...", I do not claim responsibility for any accusations that imply that I was the influence to your assclownery.

Thank you for hearing me out, you can proceed back to the page when you close this popup.

While I know you haven't argued that LOAF is wrong, the disclaimer stands. A lot of the 'classified' stuff seems to have been the things which were either scene in cutscenes (such as the Claw's cannons' or else in other material.

I don't think anyone mentioned me at all. He's referring to the original ships section Exeter specs ("classified") rather than my version (https://www.wcnews.com/ships2/wc1exeter.shtml).

I agree that it would in all likelyhood have things like torpedoes - but without any specifics ever presented, I didn't include them.

(I do have a good new 'earliest seen' date for the Exeter -- 2639, referenced in the WC1/2Guide).

Well, I didn't create that site for the Saga fan project, that webpage is the result of the past maybe . . . 6 or so years of acculmulating data and stuff. It's only in the recent times in which I was able to get renders and textures of the ships I needed, both from Standoff and Saga. Note that I said "both", I don't like being associated with exclusively one or the other, as I prefer to remain independent.

Another reason why FT is in 2669 is because I liked WC3 the best. In fact, the original concept for the page was going to be in the Prophecy era back in the day, but I decided to turn to the WC3 era cause I liked that era more.

As for mods, I don't make the call on what goes into or what doesn't into any mod material, it's up to the mod developers themselves. And right now, I'm too busy paying "The Man" in pushups and 8-counts to worry about what info of mine is being used for whatever so project.
