WC:The Kilrathi Saga -->Joystickproblem

hi everybody,

1) sorry for my english im german ;)

2) im a big WC fan and wanted to play those games again. So i just bought Wing Commander The Kilrathi Saga on ebay. The games run fine except of Wing Commander 3!! WC3 starts fine and i`ve noticed no crashes or something like that.

3) my problem is another one. when im in space the musik is not correct. But thats not so bad. what really piss me off is that the joystick doesnt react smoothly.
my ship reacts "stuttering" or in small hitches. i dont know how to say that....it feels like the ship is shaking when i move the joystick.

4)i have winxp and my joystick is a thrustmaster flight control system (without pedals).

5) i have already tried all available (on this site - dont know if there are more) joystick patches for WC3 but no one worked for me!

6) please if someone knows a solution then help me!!! Please!! i dont want to play with the keyboard thats not the same!!

yes i tried everything but nothing works. and compatibility mode makes no difference....is there something else that i can try?

Unfortunately that's justy what he asked just a few days ago, and he wasn't able to fix his problem. A whole bunch of us gave all the suggestions we could think of for this very similar issue. Without sitting in front of your computer manipulating things, there's not much more than what's in that thread. There is no patch, and there is no common bug that strikes everyone in a consistent manner with any sort of workaround. Because of this, it's probably just one or two particular things about your system that is causing the process to fail, but this could be anything. If all the suggestions in the other thread didn't work, you have to try varying your configuration with different software, control settings, drivers and so on until you eliminate the conflict that's causing the joystick to break.

thanks for your help ChrisReid. i could not solve the problem but now i`m resigned to the fact that my joystick is not so precisely. It's not so bad after all...
now i take it for a challenge....

I played through all the original Wing Commander games with just a keyboard the first time I went through them (and mouse for Privateer 2). It's different than with a joystick, but you can definitely get used to it and have a lot of fun. You might even periodically try your stick as you go through time and upgrade different system components and software packages, since you could randomly do something that eliminates the conflict causing this problem.
