I thought I'd start one of these over here, until the RSI forums recover :)
    Hopefully this is ok.

Something that would be nice to see included, is seemless server transitions.
What do I mean by that?
Well it was stated that people should be able to mod the game and set up private servers.
So imagine us lot want to have a server for CIC members. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a jump point in the official server that acted as an entrance to that private part of the universe. They could make it so that you couldn’t make it through the jump point without the relevant nav data (log in details).
If they did this, it could make the universe sooooooo big and fun [IMG]

Well, if you have mods active, then there will pretty much have to be a load phase where it switches between modded and non-modded rulesets, unless there is enough RAM on both server and client side to run both instances simultaneously.

Not sure how this will work, but I do believe mods are only an option on private servers... so my guess would be that all the people connecting to a modded server would also already be running the mods as well... though maybe there will be a custom launcher that gives you a list of mods to launch with... so you could pick from several and then see private open servers running that mod to connect to.

Ohh boy... this is what I'd like to see:

Me and my buddy in a fractured off server enjoying ourselves within our characters, chatting, having a good time when the scramble alarm sounds. Me and him with our characters get up from our chairs and rush to suit up, and get to the hangar where NPC's and fellow pilots on the server are already scrambling to intercept. We climb in our fighters and are launched to intercept the bombers and their escorts. My buddy forms on my wing and we rush to the fight. While in the process of the fight I get in a rough situation, I'm being trailed and can't shake him. Before anyone gets to me I'm crippled and spinning out of control. I don't have a choice, and I'm forced to eject. My character reaches for the ejection handle, and shoots out of the fighter, where I float aimlessly until an NPC SAR recovers me.

And that's just one scenario I have in my head.

So what am I looking forward to?

-Co-op story. When not doing actual missions to progress the story, the admin can create scramble alerts, or the game generates a simple patrol mission.
-Death. The character may be persistent, but dying on a mission results in mission failure, and if you die, you must repeat the mission. Ejecting can result in capture, or rescue, depending on a random roll. Rescue means all is well, and if your wingmen complete the mission, you move on, else you all repeat. If captured, you have to repeat the mission, regardless of mission outcome.
-Explore the carrier. Come on, I love the concept of walking around my ship of service, I want to explore it and feel like I am a part of the crew.
-Character customization: Any level is good for me. I should also note here I want my character to be silent, that way my voice is my characters voice.
-Customizing my ship: From weapon loadout to exhaust color. I want my ship to have a special vibe to it, especially when I get out of the military service.
-Complete control of my craft. It may get confusing, but if I am allowed to map my keys completely, it should be okay. My craft will be customized and tuned to my flight style.

I have the impression the first is already planned. I see no reason why the second won't be implemented either.

Yeah there might be a pause for loading. You could fly to the jump point, your computer checks to see if you have the needed nav data (the code to get in) and then you have to confirm the jump (a list of the mods running) and okay that. Then you jump. There might be a bit of a loading pause, but probably not too bad. So maybe not instant but still pretty lovely :)

Well I was Arthur Dent on the Cserve forum SFmedOne back in the 90's, so I guess that would be my job.

So I'm just curious here - any particular reason the SAR Bird is an NPC and not another one of your buddies?

One thing I would REALLY like to see is to make some of the support craft flyable - like the SWACs or the SAR Birds. Darting into a combat engagement in an unarmed or lightly armed shuttle to pluck a pilot out of space sounds like fun to me.

It'll be open to one and all. And me, I'll just sit back, gaze at the beautiful women, and listen to the music...

I can confirm that bars, jazz music and beautiful women are on the wishlist...

... not the Star Citizen wishlist, but still.

Somebody should definitely do the Mos Eisley cantina, complete with the big headed bug-eyed guys playing the Cantina theme repeatedly. Maybe get Vader to pitch in on his accordion...

    Han shot first.
