Starlancer on the DC

I just bought Starlancer on the Dreamcast for $30au ( about 5 US dollars ). Not a bad game despite the fact its nearly impossible to control with the crap DC gamepad.
Ive never played the PC version and I just wanted to know how much cd's it contained , the DC version is on one gd (1000mb) and that seems kinda small for a Chris roberts game. Has anyone else played it?? Any difference between the systems?

Im up to the 12th or 13th mission and its been fairly entertaining so far. A few nice plot twists already and even though there's no between mission cutscenes its still pretty cool.
I like the squadron thing theyve got going on even though i dont give a rats arse about my wingmen.....

Oh, well, if it has more twists than Summoner!

I got bored with SL about halfway into the game. I decided to just go watch the Wing Commander movie again, that way I didn't have to play all those missions.

Nah I didnt like the WC movie......
The best parts about it was the cool intro with the map and how the text changes from alien to english when the Kilrathi talk.

I don't think it's possible to like Starlancer and dislike the Wing Commander movie at the same time.

I never saw the movie, but Starlancer wasn't bad. We only have a higher standard with which we compare. :)
If you played SL without having known WC it is pretty okay...

The WC Movie was bad, but enjoyable on the guilty pleasure level. :)

That would be the reason, why I always watch the TV-magazine, when it could come in free-TV, but it never comes... I heard some opinions about it. Most are very bad, some are good. I mostly believe the bad ones, I know it's a prejudice, it's just so I don't want to spend my money for buying that movie and to borrow it in a shop I am not old enough yet.

I consider myself a "real fan". I've read all the novels and I'm currently collecting all the WC games I didn't previously have, even if they don't work on my computer (recently aquired a MINT WC3 and have a Deluxe Edition of WC2 on the way). I even traded email with Chris Roberts once!

Do I like the movie? Yeah, in a fun little way. I really wish it was more fleshed out like in the book. In the movie, stuff happens and a lot of it lacks explanation. The novel smooths everything out.

The only thing in both the novel and the movie that bothered me was the Skipper Missile. It was like "Ok, lets see...Oh, A SKIPPER MISSILE! Let's put that in!!!". That's my only complete complaint. Otherwise, I blame it on Screenwriter Kevin Droney and his Drones and the Editor, who also did at least one James Bond movie, methinks...(?)

Bond is certainly cool, but the guys that make him so cool are:

*John Barry
*David Arnold
*Michael Kamen
*Bill Conti

What i meant was that a game and a film are two totally different things.
So far ive enjoyed Starlancer , even though the story isnt as developed as a WC game. But i think they do a good job telling the story from the limited cockpit and the missions are varied and enjoyable.
Its not like i hate the film , its just i though it could of been alot better. At times it didnt even feel like Wing Commander.
