Some random thoughts, ideas and questions

Thunderbolt

Rear Admiral
I don't know where to start here so I'll just shoot right in

This concerns episode 4 and since I heard you guys are polishing off Standoff I thought its a good time to post this

Firstly some of the battles could have felt a bit bigger. I'm thinking mainly of the Moskva defense. Maybe to add a few wrecks of confed cap ships ie destroyers, cruisers, corvettes etc just to show how badly the fleet really fared in that fight before Bradshaw shows up. Confed wouldn't leave a fleet carrier alone to face a massive Kilrathi counterattack without an escort. Its not just the extra firepower that a couple cap ships provide it also helps to distracts torpedo bombers from hitting a much more valuable carrier.

Why is the Firekka travelling towards Sirius Prime after the planet has been incenerated by the Kilarthi? This is in the mission when Bradshaw escorts the Firekka to the Leyte Gulf. It doesnt really make sense that in order to escape the Kilrathi we're flying towards the planet that the Kilrathi fleet has put under siege and nuked into an inferno.

What happens to the Verdun? Assuming that it was protected in episode 3 what is its fate in Ep 4? Does it meet a similiar fate to the Moskva or does it escape to Solar. If it is destroyed it would have been good to have seen it in one mission maybe in the same nav point as the Moskva.

Anyway those are just some impressions I had

Goodluck with Episode 5 I'm sure its going to blow us all away!

I can tell you that major changes like this are things you won't see. By "polishing" we are talking about bugs we might have missed.

As for battles feeling bigger, if every battle is a monstrosity, then what's going to make them feel unique? If every mission is just as many fighters and capships shoved in as the engine can handle what's the fun in that?

The Moskva was essentially written off because of its damage. While normally you might be right that Confed wouldn't leave a carrier undefended, at this stage Tolwyn needs every capship he can for Sol. Sirius was more of a delaying action than the stand up fight, that comes at Sol.

Sirius was never under siege. It was nuked to rubble and poisoned. As for the exact reasoning why we are moving in the direction of Sirius Prime...perhaps the jump point is in that direction and it also makes a nice gameplay element to see a planet on fire don't you think? :p

No pilot is going to encounter every major event in a battle. :p

But if that happens who's going to play it? :p
