I just played through both Freespace and it's addon Silent Threat. I really really wanted to play Wing Commander 4 again after i got done. I got it running with DosBox but the sound has pops in it, my joystick is unable to use the throttle, rool, and missiles keys, and truth be told it does not look near as good as I recall it looking. Then again Im trying to play it on a 20" LCD widescreen.

Anyways I gave up and started playing Wing Commander SAGA. Its a WC mod using the Freespace 2 engine..and it is a blast I tell ya! Its keeping me happy until Im ready to replay Freespace 2. I really wish we had a new Wing Commander. Not that Arena junk but a real WC sim game. God I msis the old days.

You should try Standoff. It uses WCP/SO's Vision engine and is quite further along then Saga (4 Episodes vs a Intro). I think you'll like it quite a lot.
 
A lot of the inital poster's problems could be solved by using the Win95 patch for WC4.

So where does this end? It goes on and on, over and over and over again. Keep spinning around I know that it won't stop, till i stand down from this...

PS Shouldn't this have been posted in either Tech or Saga forum?
 
Daehawk - you should definitely get over to hard-light.net and download SCP if you're a FreeSpace fan. They've spruced up all the graphics and fixed up a new version of the Silent Threat campaign. Likewise check out The Babylon Project, a B5 mod using the same technology as FS and WCSaga.

Like you, I'm really looking forward to playing Saga when it gets done. Gotta love space sims.
