Rigakh cruiser

Seventh Part of the Seal
I've been studying the design since playing Standoff and was curious about the primary hull. We see three porthole style forward mounted tubes. The larger one I'm sure is the flight deck, but what about the two smaller ones? Launch tubes, missile/torpedo launches, or something else all together?

PROMOTION TIME!!:p

Damn dude - when I just checked the other thread, I had to do a double take to see what poster had such an obscenely huge rank. Nice job!

This ship is one of my favorites in the WC universe. I remember the first time I played through WC2 I kept hoping to see it in combat! Thank you, Standoff!

Dang, you've been a pretty active poster. I only just got Lt. General and I've been hear significantly longer.

I'm pretty sure those holes would be the heavy launch tubes that were used to barrage earth and possibly other plants in fleet action.

I suppose that makes sense. I somehow thought they would be launch tubes where the larger one was a shuttle/recovery bay and the missile launchers would have been attached to the wing struts.

For the record, the use of Rigakh cruisers to attack Earth is not canon - we used them in that role in Standoff because there was a reference in one of the WC2 SO addons (don't remember which) to Rigakh cruisers taking part in orbital bombardment. For all we know, however, it could have been any other type of Kilrathi cruiser out there.

(that SO mention, incidentally, was actually the only time we ever hear the term "Rigakh". It wasn't until Kilrathi Saga came out that we had any evidence that the Hha'ifra from the WC2 intro was a Rigakh. Even then, all we had was concept art to link these two ships)

Do you mind sharing what armement you provided to your interpretation of the Rigakh?

Come to think of it, a Standoff edition Joan's would be awesome!

A lot of folks resisted that, too -- especially since the concept art pairs it with a screenshot, which is actually a Ralatha (the argument went: why would Thrakhath's flagship be a measley cruise?). The file names in Origin's 3D model archive, though, do seem to confirm that the ship in the Wing Commander II introduction was intended to be a Rigakh. (I do believe the original intention was to include the Rigakh in the last K'Tithrak Mang mission -- which is likely why you get *so many* torpedoes.)

You know, when I first came here, these ranks were pretty commonplace. Now it seems like everyone has a picture or a rank in the Lt. through Colonel range. So we needed a few more higher ups.

That and it seems that many of the posters in the 'general' ranks are not as active these days.

If I am ever allowed to have an avatar, I'm now thinking that a certain other thread would provide the perfect resources for a suitable picture. ;)

Yeah unfortunately many of the other old timers have passed beyond the rim...maybe with a new WC game they might rediscover a past love...

Forgive me for asking twice - I'm just really curious. If it's not 'classified,' are you able to provide the specs that Standoff used for the Rigakh cruiser? I'm curious what your interpretation of the ship is and where it stands against other cruisers.

Thanks!

I don't believe it is classified :p, but I don't know the exact specs for it. Quarto or Eder would probably be the ones who could answer that directly.

Personally, I think that it's the 2nd best capship in Standoff after the Targu. Although it does have a few more blind angles, if you do happen to find yourself within the body turrets firing cone...watch out or your in for a bad ride.

This is actually one section of the guide I was debating about adding (basically a Joan's type section) since it's on the website and I wasn't sure how many people were really curious how many turrets are on a Hakaga :p

Thanks for the information! To be honest, the Joan's installments were always my favorite parts. I think I'm just a hopeless nerd with ship stats and the like. I love knowing that kind of info.

I would absolutely vote in favor of such a guide.

I would just have to add another section. There is already a character and "story so far" section, along with the obvious mission trees and mission descriptions sections.

Once Standoff is totally and completely done (maybe 2 more weeks to get the sim missions ready?). I'll be turning my attention to the guide and WCPedia. I also may need to enlist the help of at least one person to help compile info. I know Quarto will be very busy in the coming weeks...with getting married this weekend and all :p

Heh, yeah - don't expect too much from me over the next month ;).

(...and pray that the patch you're testing works fine, because it's gonna be a while before the next)

As for the Joan's thing - that would be pretty nifty, but it would really, really have to include those neato drawings like Claw Marks, or at least a black silhouette like WC2.
