Ranks in WC Universe

Well I was simply referring to Poulton's post whch suggested it was illogical that a Major outranked a Lieutenant but in General ranks the roles were reversed. I wanted to illustrate that that's not the case. The offensive nature of my post is urelated to this discussion

It merely seemed illogical to me because I do not have a knowledge of Military history. I did not meen to cause any upset and thank you for correcting my lacking knowledge of military history, including the meaning of lieutenant.

P.S. Can anyone tell me why we bizzarely pronounce lieutenant "Leftenant" over here in England?

<WC4 BL officer> ...And I couldn't go on! </WC4 BL officer>

Seriously, I wasn't implying that Gryphon's response bothered me in any way, I merely thought that his tone was amusing enough to be worth commenting about. At this point, I'd suggest getting back to the topic, but it seems like there isn't much left to discuss, except perhaps the weirdness of British pronunciation :p.

I believe the guy who did VS served in the US Army.

Well, the Army does have lower intelligence standards for entrance than any of the other services. ;)

Ghost:''Hello, i want to talk with Chris Roberts''
CR:''Yeah, i'm Chris, are you Ghost?''

That dubious distinction belongs to the Marine Corps. Most Marine Officers major in either government, english, or history, so they can say "I've been to college!" and get their bars.

True! But to enlist in the US Marines, you have to have a high school diploma. GEDs need not apply. Actually, they're referred to the local Army recruiter.

Ok, I didn't know that. I learn something new everyday. And I think I should show something new as well.

One of the most educated enlisted ranks in the US military is actually the Navy SEALs. 35% of the enlisted force have college degrees, and about 75% of all SEAL officers are prior enlisted.

Chris was also...

- The voice of one of the Victory's escorts in Wing Commander 3.
- The pilot who rescues Blair at the end of the Wing Commander movie (a double-cameo, as Peter Telep named him 'Chris McCubbin', after the WC manual writer).
- The 'body' of Blair in the 'cinematic' sequences in WC2 (the kiss and such).
- A Colonel on the Tiger's Claw, mentioned at least twice in WC/SM/SM2 (Shotglass mentions that Col. Roberts likes tea and Claw Marks credits him as its editor).

Yah, I was playing through SM2 again (for the first time in a long time) and I stumbled across that. "I can't get you your usual. You're within your eight hour limit. I've got some (type of) tea that Col. Roberts likes. . want some of that, ya boozer?" (paraphrased)

Shotglass: "Sorry, Colonel, can’t pour anything for you. You’re within your eight-hour limit. I have some real British tea, though, that I keep here for Colonel Roberts."
Maverick: "Thanks, Sam, I’ll try some of that. Have you heard any news lately?"

psych, before badmouthing any branch of the service, I suggest you actually go verify your slanderous remarks first. I know you won't, but if you did, you might actually learn something.

A CIVILIAN, of all people, sent that one to a buddy of mine when we were all on The Rock for the first time, and we got nailed for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, even Groundhog Day, on a lousy 6 month pump.

Hmmmmm..... the spacing didn't work for some reason.....
