Following good news with good, TeamXbox has posted a new preview of Wing Commander Arena. It gives descriptions for every game mode, talks about fighting 'bots and confirms what we've noticed in recent screenshots - that the game is a lot more polished than it was three months ago. Most importantly, it reveals for the first time all of the game's Achievements. For those unfamiliar with Xbox games, Achievements are special graphical awards unlocked for accomplishing various in-game feats, similar to winning medals in Wing Commander I... except everyone can view your accomplishments online! The ring game is the mini-game you can do while other people are fighting in the Bearpit... it involves flying through rings (similar to the X-Wing training missions, if you remember thatparticular cold hell)
That might be my favorite one. It's something that we'll all steadily be working towards as we play, and when people finally earn it, it'll be quite an accomplishment. Winning a ranked duel in each ship is a big one too. I'm anxious to start my spreadsheet file to keep track of my progress towards all these.
Yeah it's going to be a lot of fun making our way towards all these achievements. It's going to be great!
