Prophecy Failing a 'destroy all' mission.

In Prophecy, I am assaulting a previously Kilrathi-Owned starbase. My objective is to destroy all fighters at a certain navpoint, so that the marines will face the minimum amount of opposition. I always get a 'mission failed' inflight for some mysterious reason, and as soon as I cleared out all the opposition my carrier is attacked by an enormous amount of manta's and then blows up.

I get the feeling this was either a bug, or I got on the losing path, but my last 3 missions where atleast succesful.
 
Make sure the Starbase stays intact, and keep and eye on the Marine craft. I think if the Marine LC is destoryed, the Midways gets killed. I'm not entirely sure though.
