Starbreeze Studios has announced that one of two games it has been developing for Electronic Arts is being shelved. The developer's two known games were Project Redlime and a title based off the Jason Bourne series. Though rumored to be a Wing Commander game at one point, Redlime appears to be a revisitation to the Syndicate series. I hope it's the Bourne game that got the boot. -- Original update published on March 24, 2010
It seems that it's the Bourne game that's been canned: "The Los Angeles Times reports that previously announced game from Electronic Arts based on the spy movie and book series is now on the shelf. Starbreeze Studios was supposed to develop the game but this week Starbreeze said one of their two EA projects was canceled and a spokesperson for EA confirmed they do not currently have any Bourne game projects in the works. However, later EA spokeswoman added the following: 'EA and the Ludlum Estate are still discussing making a game based on the Bourne franchise' " http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/ent...ideo-games-uncertain-as-ea-cancels-title.html
I wonder if the decision to cancel a Bourne game is in some way connected to Green Zone bombing at the box office?
They might try and go the Matt Damon route just because of the Movies, though there's no reason for them to, since their license is for the novels which the movies only really follow very very loosly. Actually, if they wanted to use the likeness of Matt Damon it would probably be subject to separate deals with the actor and film studio which they could avoid by going with a different look all together.
