Hey! I don't want to hog the forum with my little junk so if you downloaded the WCU patch and find a bug, please report it here. Same if you have ANY suggestions.

e.g.
"The turrets look too goofy" = not very useful
"The turrets look too goofy, can you make them look like WC3" = very useful

I don't know if this is related to your patch or not but:

Awhile back you saw one of my posts about my Taursas changing into an invisible-on the-pad Cent., I went to an earlier save and all was well....I then saw your upgraded patch enhancement (the 3.18mb one) and put it in and this happened again. Just saw your latest (13mb) and put it in and now I can see that it isn't a cent but something that looks like a jet fighter (Demon?) no double nose just a single.

No matter which save game I go to it still gives me the fighter but the info inside the base still tells me I have a Taursas. I am not blaming your patch, but if I took my savegames out of thier file, re-installed the game and your recent patch, put my saves back in do you think that might solve my problem or is my saves toast and I should *sniff* start over?

I would like to thank you for what you have been doing tho! ;>

Sorry :( You might have to start over (actually you DO if you want the new bases in the new systems).

A semi-solution is to delete all the folders except for SAVE in /privr/.privateer010 but this will cost you your upgrades.
 
Thank you for your help, spiritplumber, just one other thing (sorry to bother you), when I re-install the game should I use only the lastest patch you did (13mb) or use the 3mb one also? I suppose I should ask: is the 13mb one replacing the 3mb one.

They do two different things, the 3mb patch makes Priv prettier, the 13mb patch does the same AND adds star systems and ships. You can install the big patch over the small patch, but not viceversa.
 
Thank you again, spiritplumber, I re-installed the game and your latest patch, eveything seems to work fine!

Something I discovered which people may not know: I took out my save game and after re-install put it back in, as you said, I lost my upgrades...but...I got to keep the $44,000 I had at that time. So if anyone has to reload, put your savegame aside and after install place it back into its place, this may ease the pain of having to start all over again...it make it alot easyer on me!

Oh..um....what exactly is the repair droid suppose to repair? IIRC...in the original, it repaired everything execpt hull, armor, guns....I ask because I had my radar damaged and it wasan't repaired....it dosen't have to be turned on dose it?

I didn't think so.....

*turrets look less goofy
*if you don't restart your game you shouldn't get any more new constantinople clones*
*extra jump points to/from troy and junction fixed
*capships have a main gun like in WC2(only effective against other capships really -- stay tuned for when we get to use it to blow up asteroids)
 
Slightly OT, I was on a 3rd or so campaign mission where I had to take some contraband to a mining base in Troy. With Galaxy as my ship and couple of Escort Demons in my cargo hold there was a surprise waiting for me after jump... FOUR hostile militia carriers (or similar big ships) and I had some tough time with them at first. But after I released my demons, first demon was destroyed but second one destroyed all of those ships by himself and completely without damage... And I thought that two little ships wouldn't have a chance against 4 big ones :)
I think bigger ships shouldn't be so easy to destroy.
 
Okay, I had a fun time. Started new game, hacked in my money, and set out to explore the universe. It is awesome. Flew up to the ..., bought cloaking devices for my Demon and Orion, and bought a Dralthi. Spent the rest of the day flying around in the Dralthi and playing at being Kilrathi. Blew up a million Gladii (well, about fifteen), flew all over S'kh'haral quadrant in sector Trk'Pahn sector. Now, the Cats love me, but Confed hates me (I got a hunch there's a price on my head :)). No problem there. But at one point, I jumped into Perry, planning to activate my cloaking device and just cruise through to Tingerhoff. Lo, and behold, my cloaking device has quit (it was working earlier). Nice timing...the carrier's scrambling a dozen Stilettos with Broadsword support. And I am *quite* visible. Well, I made it through (it was really close, though), went and landed, and repaired my ship. And it (my cloaking device) still won't work. Plenty of fuel, it's undamaged, and I'm pressing the right keys. Help..? Oh, and BTW, one other little bug. When I go to jump, quite often it freezes for a sec. No problem there. But today, while it's frozen, the little "mesher" windows, which I assume normally pop-up in the background, pop-up on top of Privateer. They're there for just a second while it's thinking, then they're gone. Doesn't affect gameplay at all. I don't even know if it's a problem with you're patch, but I though I'd mention it. And also, I think it would be cool if you could get some more Kilrathi ships. I got an idea for a plot where you could get some, but I need a little bit more info before I can submit it to Hellcat. Anyone know where I can find out all about the Kilrathi rebels mentioned in WCIII. I know the movement started on Ghorah Khar, and that's about all. Help would be very muchly appreciated.
 
Next version of WCU coming up as soon as the real game is final :) Capships WILL be harder to destroy, as well. Cloaking device hopefully fixed. A couple of refinements. Stuff.

Question: Which Border World fighter would you like to be able to fly?
 
We should make a better mesher that doesn't pop up a window of any sort...my bro's smart about that kind of stuff so I'll ask him
 
After I installed the latest wcu-patch, game doesn't work quite well anymore... In loading phase taskbar is flickering over the Privateer Remake title picture and finally the game minimizes itself. I'll have to wait a bit so that all the loading is done and then click "vegastrike" from the taskbar, game comes back to full-screen but graphics are all screwed up. Plus every time I'm about to use my jump drive game minimizes itself again! >:-(

The current version of the patch is already set to work with 1.0 final, which should be out very very soon. Prereleases might have problems...

sorry for not having 2 versions ready but I have two kitties to look after now :)

The problem is indeed with the mesher.

WCU is using models in .obj format now, which the mesher converts on the fly to Vegastrike's internal format. This is all well and good, but the mesher has problems staying in the background. A better version of the mesher would fix it.

Sure, WCU could use bfxm instead of obj and that would fix it too, but fixing the mesher is better in the long run.
