Phase Shielding

Of course, you're forgetting that the Confederation does not need to resort to such tactics. Just send out Casey & Co

. It would be an interesting sight though. No, wait. It wouldn't be - at their max ranges, we probably wouldn't even see the two ships at the same time.

What about a Murphy vs. Kraken?

The triple turrets have range of about 15,000 klick IIRC, the Fleet Plasma has a range of 10,000 klicks. Before the Plasma and Particles of the Plunkett could destroy the Kraken, the Kraken would close the range and destroy the Plunkett.

If the Plunkett could take out the gun as they were opening it up, then the Kraken would be useless.

How exactly would it go about taking out that gun? The Kraken has it inside unlike the Midway, and as demonstrated in in the Prophecy intro, it can open up rather quickly.

Well, that depends on the Epee pilot, don't it?

He'll have to be at least as good as Blair if he wants a chance

But hey, while we're at it, let's load a Dralthi Mk. II with torps and send that up against the Kraken.

Dralthi Mk. 2 in WCP? That's kinda like sending one of those workpods after the Kraken with a torp, isn't it?

Casey and Co. can't be everywhere at once. I found it strange they were the first confeds that encountered the bugs.

If I'm not mistaken the Capship plasma has a range of 10000. If the Plunkett's hv part can go 15000, it might be able to punch through the sheilds and hull, disabling the plasma gun. Of course, such an encounter WOULD be unlikey.
