need help with joystick setup

I have tried the setup.exe file and still can't get my joystick to respond. I have a thrustmaster afterburner 2. Was wondering if anyone has the standard files needed to configure the game for this joystick. Thx!
 
have you tried a simple 2 axis joystick--what are the symptoms?
does stdout.txt or stderr.txt mention the number of axes on your joystick?
