Just wondering... has anyone been lucky enough to play Privateer, Armada, or WC3 with the General MIDI soundcard? How much an improvement is it above the standard FM synthesis?

It's much nicer -- I'm trying to get ahold of a Roland soundcard to put in a WC-only machine I'm setting up... (that, and in a perfect world a 3DO Blaster).

i have a jazz sound card and the midi sounds very good

How much nicer? Is it the same principles as wavetable synthesis?
