Wing Commander CIC

I'm not sure if this is a bug but after I blew up a mission talon, I tried to match the speed of the escape pod by pressing F9. The speed of my tarsus (this is my first mission mind you) went up to 500 something klips. I thought the max speed for this vehicle was 300?

Also, when landing on Helen, the sound clip didn't play entirely before the landing pad screen shows up.
