"Magnificent, aren't they? I bet you wish you'd had one of those during the war!" (June 7, 2015)

There are many talented Wingnut artists out there, but it's not every day a new one pops up to enter the fray. DefianceIndustries actually isn't a complete newcomer to the Wing Commander community, but this is his first time sharing one of his projects - and he picked quite a scene to do it with! The wallpaper below features a prominent Vesuvius class carrier flanked by a pair of Murphy class destroyers. There's what looks like a Concordia carrier in the background as well as a wing of Piranhas flying escort. Whether bearing down on a Kilrathi starpost or posting to the CIC Forums, this task force makes a hell of an introduction!

I've been lurking around these forums for a good many years and figured I should probably properly introduce myself. But because it's rude to show up in someone's playground without bringing a toy I figured I'd share some of the wingnut work I've been doing of late.

After playing WC Saga.... yes, yes I do.

Hmm.... might make for an interesting mod. A what if scenario with a Vesuvius ready 4 years sooner. Though one wonders if a HvarVann (let alone several could be taken down by 4 fleet carriers worth of fighters in a repetitive strike waves with craft of this era (unless you had 400 Blairs/Black Lance doing the piloting). According to Saga, one dreadnought - sure, two - just ouch. Those dreadnoughts probably wouldn't bother with bombers or escorts, but go straight at the single carrier in a combined assault.

The original is 1900px so if anyone wants the huge size I can post it to a drop box.

@ChrisReid - Yep that's a Concordia. I think every Wingnut who starts off in modeling has to do a Concordia at some point in their career; it's like getting your Journeyman's papers or something. :)

@Iceblade you'd have to figure that though that the Vesuvius wouldn't be unescorted. So if the HvarVann ran straight at the carrier, it would have to run a gauntlet of the 400+ fighters as well as the combined capital fire of the Vesuvius and probably a couple of Tallahassee's and Sheffield's. It would be brutal for sure, but I think the Kilrathi would lose the dreadnought as well. Probably be a Pyrrhic victory at best.

You can't tell from the image, but the Vesuvius is the TCS W. Eisen. I always wanted to do a story about what happens during the actual Nephilim War, starting after Secret Ops and ending with the events hinted at in Star Soldier. Eisen figured in the story as my "hero" ship but I've also thought it would be fun to play out the events around TCS Port Broughton's defense of Firekka.
