Length of time officers spend at the academy

Does anyone know the average length of time a naval or space forces officer spends at the academy? Is it a two or four year program, or possibly some other length of time?

From what I remember out of the the WC1/2 Guide, Carl LaFong spent the first three years at the Academy, and his fourth year was OJT on the Exeter-class destroyer TCS Formidable. In the novel Action Stations, they state that the Academy program lasts for five years, however... but the politicians were cutting it down to a one-year program, at least until after the war broke out.

Space Forces Academy (on Hilthros) is a four year program, Naval Academy (at Houston) is a five year program.

... and then they go on to serve onboard them when they graduate. It's not like OJT is TCSF cadets serving as warrant officers or something... they're flying fighters and whatnot. (Blair flew Hornets off the Formidable during his OJT).

I see. Makes sense, fighters don't just fly alone through the galaxy, they usually need a bigger ship to land... And also it wouldn't be smart to put the undergraduates on the important carriers.
