Kilrathi Saga: Transfering characters?

Hey guys!

Just fired up the Kilrathi Saga and wanted to play through all the Wing Commanders again. Thanks to all the great posts on these boards I've managed to get WC1 and SM1 to run just fine. Even SM2 does. However, I am having a small issue now.. .

For sentimental reasons I'd like to transfer my savegame from SM1 over to SM2. However, there's only a transfer tool to get characters from WC to SM1 in the directory. Just starting SM2 and loading a savegame doesn't work either, just gets me a you can't load a non SM2 savegame message.

While it won'tbe the end of the world if there's no way to transfer your character, does anyone have a solution for this? I'll love you forever.

Hey, welcome to the forums. What did you figure out? This question comes up occasionally, and I'm more familiar with the specifics of the DOS versions. If you posted what you did to solve your issues, it might help others with a similar question.
 
Having KS myself, I know what he figured- if you put the pilot to bed, it puts him to a different SM than if you awaken him in the utility.
