I'm confused on 3 things...

Not to go off-kilter here, but perhaps the reason Maniac was taken along with Eisen is because Eisen knew Maniac was so gullible? Just a thought :)

Sure it belongs with the other novels as a novel. But it’s otherwise a novel within a novel, which creates differences.

Action Stations exists as a published work in the WC universe. The other novels, like Fleet Action, do not. And this is why AS is “on a par”–that is, on the same level–with materials like Claw Marks that also exist within the WC universe.

Hmm, I see your point on this and find it quite interesting. Though I don't think that AS dialogues should be taken as 'less canon' than other dialogues.

Nor do I. At least, I wouldn’t put it that way. I’d prefer to say that AS is “more vulnerable” than the other novels are to skepticism and contradiction, in the way that novelizations of actual events generally are.

No one said that it was.

The point is that it's written from the perspective of a historian in the WC-future rather than a neutral current-day author.

Cool... that's a great (and novel) idea... Like how I always dreamt of doing a documentary on the human race from an outsiders perspective...

I never saw you as an outsider to the human race. Maybe a bit strange, yes, but not an outsider. Then again, I never saw you in person... ;)
