... between a Talon and a Gratha. And it's a *Gratha*. Stop e-mailing me to tell me different! That means all million and a half of you! Especially the ones who are downright rude about it!

Looks like the cats ARE copy cats! :D I never seen the Gratha before, is that a ship from the novels or animated series? What are the details of this ship?

WC1? Oh ok the Super Wing Commander. (wiz right over my head on that one!) Well what is the story about this ship, was it an original Kilrathi design or Terran design. Or is this just another one of those conflicting things that seems to be abundant when it comes to what is what in the WC universe?

Well SWC was released after or before Priv ???? it looks like a talon

Ehm... pardon me for not following through... but what are you talking about, LOAF?

On the front page (at wcnews.com), we're posting a different picture of a Super Wing Commander ship each day. Super Wing Commander was a remake of Wing Commander 1 (with some added stuff) that was released for the Mac and 3DO in the early 90s. All the graphics were re-done, so the ships all look different... because of the choice of platforms, not many people played the games, so they never saw the ships.

Some of the ships went on to be used in later Wing Commander games, since nobody really saw them in SWC, including the SWC version of the Gratha -- which turned into the Talon in the later Privateer. So, the front page has the SWC version of the Gratha, which looks like a Kilrathi colored Talon.

I was enjoying people e-mailing me "Wha?!" and so forth, and planned to post an explanation tomorrow (wait until y'all see the Scimitar:)) -- but then I got some downright offensive e-mails: along the lines of "YOU IDIOT, THAT IS NOT A GRATHA! YOU'RE SO STUPID!" -- so I figured I'd vent... and point out how stupid people are;)) (I'm not talking about you, RFBurns... you sent me a nice note:)).

(In response to your question, the Gratha was a Kilrathi heavy fighter from WC1... you can see the original in the CIC's ships database).

Oh ok... thanks for the explanation... :)

And don't worry, although I would have emailed you for claiming that, at the CIC, was a Gratha (hell, I think I can remember the fighter that gave me the most trouble in WC, no? ;) ), I would have never allowed myself to call you an idiot... <G>

LOAF, Idiot, and Wing Commander should never be used in the same sentence.

Pretty much if LOAF says it, it's the word of god. He'll prove you wrong everytime...err...that's what he does with me anyway. One of these days....

The Retro ship in Rightous Fire is, indeed, a Kilrathi fighter... in fact, RF's internal game files call it a Salthi -- which is interesting, because it's the same model used for the Salthi in SWC (which you'll see in a few days:))...

As with all ships, they were upgraded over the years... (well, of course some of them have got Steltek guns in RF:)).

The Shok'lar too, I believe, recycles the SWC Salthi model. And the Gladius recycles the... can't remember, either the Raptor or the Rapier model. Or maybe Scim? Anyway, knowing that, you may want to look at the Armada intro again. Because suddenly it makes sense when you see that Shok'lar/Salthi die after a single volley :).

Um, Loaf I have RF and by looking at the craft and comparing it with other craft, isn't it a sho'klar? it looks more like it than any other wc craft I've ever seen.
Maybe the shoklar, SWC salthi, and the rf ship are all the same.
