John Cordell wanted to let everyone know that although the next version of Gemini Gold is still a little ways off, the team is working hard to polish up certain parts of their fan remake of Privateer. It might seem like these guys have been around for a while, but the GG project was actually just announced one year ago this week. In that time they've sharped up their code and made many graphical improvements. Recreations of the game's art continue, and the team has just successfully rerendered the landing area at Oxford and smoothly integrated their own ship models. The Moon(s) do stand out a bit awkwardly however. Oxford is where I mainly hung out back in my Privateer days, so I'll be anxious to see what else they do with other locations on the planet. -- Original update published on July 11, 2006
Was anyone else reminded of White Castle when the saw the "Welcome" sign? The font looks to be the same... And it doesn't help that the next news article talks about BUNs...
I agree here. To me, It apears that the original intent was of moons low on the horizon, just at dusk, yet there seems to be a haze of polution possibly. The sunset is coloring the sky and this seems to be affecting the color of the moon in the original. THe new one is just plain too clear and doesnt have the right color balance. Otherwise it's looking good. I will point out that the scale of the new train is a little off too and looks about half the size of the original.
