Freelancer Midway Base Files Released (January 5, 2005)

Everyone's favorite Freelancer & Dungeon Siege site, Lancers Reactor, has reported a bit on the accidental creation of a base designed like the TCS Midway. Its creator, Aldebaran, thought he was making a Star Wars ship, so now his creation isn't useful to his current project. This set of files is mainly useful for mod teams, as the actual files can not be automatically applied to the game.

However, it would be a shame to see it go to waste so I have uploaded it here in case any of the other mods out there would like to use it. The CMP includes hard points for it to be a dockable base but no other hardpoints, so if you want weapons, lights etc... or even to turn it into a flyable ship, I am afraid you will need to add those yourselves. You will also need to build a SUR file for it as well as I never got around to building one for it.

The ship looks like it ran a little to often against a wall, but that someone would make that accidently...I do not realy belive it.

LOL. Someone didn't rtfa.. He thought the Midway was a Star Wars ship, so he modelled it. Turns out it wasn't Star Wars, so he has no use for it. This is why it can be said that he accidentally made a Wing Commander ship: it wasn't his intention to make a Wing Commander ship. The article isn't saying he tripped and fell on his mouse and the Midway came out

Lol, yea I know that. I meant that that youd think that if you spent that much time doing something like this you would realise rather quickly that it wasnt starwars. maybe he was taking drugs or something, and it fried his mind.

I'd pay real money to see that! I gess the guys the single minded type: once he starts something, nothing else can reach him until he's done. Model looks good, authentic, gotta give him that.
