Fatman/ WC1 Soundtrack Update

212 Squadron - "The Old Man's Eyes And Ears"
Me and LOAF have been bantering back and forth and trying to figure out why Fatman has been out of touch with us Wingnuts. Anyway, I received an email from him just a few minutes ago:

Calling All Fat Rangers!

Thanks for your kind letters--There have been so many requests for information on our progress in creating the CD of music from Wing Commander I ("Wing One"), I feel I had to drop y'all a line on that topic.

The good news is that I'm alive and working hard. I'll get to brag real soon about some new products. Right now, I can tell you to keep your eye out for these:

*A Spongebob Squarepants game for the GameCube and Playstation II should hit the shelves in a couple months or so. Look for the one made in Texas by Big Sky Productions. I did most of the sound effects, and I'm a couple of character voices, too.

*A movie-licenced PC game being produced for Disney by Hulabee. (I did most of the music, and their in-house guy did the rest)

*A book! "The Fat Man on Game Audio: Tasty Morsels of Audio Goodness" from New Riders Publishing. I'm about a quarter-way through writing it, and we hope it will be done by the Game Developers' Conference next year.

*PROJECT DUMBASS: The biggest, dumbest thing Team Fat's ever done. I can say no more.

*I did the sounds for all of the recent slot machines by Multimedia Games. You'll see them in Native-American casinos around the country. I also designed their speaker system, and had an amplifier built by local engineering legend Mark McQuilkin (creator of the RNC).

*An upcoming live Team Fat surf performance in Vegas. Details to follow.

The bad news is that I had so many jobs come in, I had to do some pretty harsh re-ordering of priorities, and finishing up the CD of music from Wing Commander dropped down a couple of notches. Currently, where it stands is that I've got the master CD burned, and I have to compile all of the text and titles so that we can design the jackets and print 'em up all pretty.

I'll tell y'all what, though. I'd like to do something nice for the Fat Rangers. Maybe I can post some MP3's or a link to the CD cover or something. I'll think of something and post it in the next couple of days.

Meanwhile please be patient with me and enjoy the new things Team Fat is doing. I do believe that the Wing Commander disk will ship. After all, even Warcaft III came out eventually!!!

(I bought two copies yesterday. If I don't post a follow-up 'till next week...It's Warcraft's Fault!!!)

Love to you all, Fat Rangers. Stick to the high road.

FAT

I'm kidding, of course. Whatever he does, whenever he does it will be welcomed.
He just talked about priorities, and then said he'd be busy playing Warcraft. A little funny, that's all.
