End Run

LeHah

212 Squadron - "The Old Man's Eyes And Ears"
Although you can get the novel online for free, some people are looking for copies of the novel. Besides rooting through libraries and switching the covers on them (which I, of course, never did) or going to used books stores or flea markets, theres a trio of copies on Half.com.

The cheapest one is $9.99, the others are a bit steeper.

Or just look up Wing Commander: End Run or Wing Commander.

I just ordered a copy, from Half.com actually. $2.95. The condition was "good". It's yet to come. Either it's in pretty bad shape, or the person just didn't know it was worth more. I'm proud of myself for hunting that down though.

I became mine in bad condition in an amazon auction. Together with 2 other WC books. It was okay.
But at ebay.de it was sold last weeks around 5 marks. It has been very cheap.

Why didn't you order the German translation from Amazon.de? Then again, I'm still waiting for the one they mailed me in December 1999.

The best way is just to hit your local used (or, ideally) used sci fi bookstore... End Run is available quite easily with a minimum amount of footwork.

You should just steal it from the library. That'll solve your problem.

What a nice advice for the youngs !!! :)

I'm quoting from what I remember LOAF said. And that is Baen Books will release a new WC novel when there's a demand for it, which is not the case right now...

And though I'm not sure, I think he also mentioned they lost money over the last one that got published... :(

I don't really get books. A novel by some nobody author about some nothing subject can turn a profit. A Wing Commander novel has a small fanbase, so it's almost guaranteed to make alittle bit. So why would they publish these little no name books, and not publish a book that would at least have alittle bit of a fan base?

And that is Baen Books will release a new WC novel when there's a demand for it, which is not the case right now...

That's silly. Wing Commander won't get anymore demand than it already has if they don't release some new stuff and get some new fans interested, know what I mean? And I have to agree with you, Ladiesman.

I know what you mean, and you're wrong. There will only be more demand for side-products such as the novels when a new game is released.

Disagree...

If you're talking about books in general, remember that many, many times more people read general fiction than do science fiction...

As for science fiction, pulp series like Star Trek or WIng Commander are often a turn-off to buyers...

Try going to a used bookstores as previously mentioned. You can find some pretty rare items there.I found my copy of
End Run at a used bookstore, and the book was only about $2.25.I have also seen some other fairly rare items that
you wont find in a mainstream bookstore.Items such as the Wing1&2 strategy guide. So, especialy if you live in the
U.S., try the local bookstores.

By that logic, Star Trek novels wouldn't be made anymore...it's just that a select few of the ST novels are pretty good (I just found Kahless in a closet...it's actually rather interesting)

By which logic? Star Trek is still having new material made (though it's currently in a break) and it has an insanely huge number of fans... It's not really comparable to WC except for the fact that normal people won't buy the books because they figure they're either stupid, they won't understand because they don't know the backstory or they think they're nerdy.
