Eisen's rank

What was Eisen's rank exactly?

Saw one of the briefings in WC4, and saw him with a silvery colonel bar.

Maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me...

Eisen was a captain in WC3 and WC4, which is the equivlant of the colonel (maybe the navy and space forces have similar bars, at least some of them), at the end of the WC4 novel he's promoted to Admiral.

I'm sure they do indeed have similar bars, just like the insignia for a colonel in the modern day military (a silver eagle) is the same as a captain in the navy.

A gun rack? I don't even own a gun, let alone many guns to neccessitate an entire rack.

Eisen was promoted to Admiral ?
Didn't he say that it takes a heart of stone to be an admiral ?

Eison was a Fleet Captain and I believe still is. At the end of the WC4 Book, he was a Rear Admiral, but then again, Blair was promoted to Brigadier General in the book as well, so I personally discount those promotions.

Why? Blair was promoted to Brigadier General, which is the equivlant of Commodore, his rank in Prophecy. And it is well known that Blair was trnasfered from the space forces to the navy and his rank was changed from B. General to Commodore. So you can stop discounting the promotions. Also Eisen although it isn't confirmed is most likely dead. There's a carrier named after him in Prophecy, and I doubt they would name a carrier after him if he wasn't dead. Just don't start saying my answer is wrong.

I thought Eisen didn't want to be an Admiral. In WC3 he says "It takes a certain sort to be an Admiral. Me? I'll stick to guiding one ship. The day to day successes are more tangible."

Yes very true. The novelization has to be different somehow. The end of WC4 had me as a flight school commadant, while the book took blair and made him a whatever and maniac of all people becomes a brigadier general we know that never happened in the game because he would at least have had a squadron which he claims to never have had but we won't count the morningstar squad

Maniac, at the end of WC4, was promoted to Colonel, upholding the promotion granted by the UBW when he was part of their forces. Blair made Brig. General.

As for why Maniac was a major in WCP, after being a colonel, do you really think that he wouldn't get demoted for doing something... well, doing something only Maniac would do?

. Give Maniac a break. He's a good pilot. And he really doesn't get demoted all that often (I'd say never, but then somebody would probably come up with some obsure fact to argue this). It's just that he's not the type to command a squadron - except for the Wild Eagles, who were perfect for him. A test pilot squadron _must_ push the envelope the way Maniac does. It's just a pity that the squadron fell apart on him. For once, it wasn't his fault.

are you sure Maniac didn't make general in the Price of Freedom? Wild eagles, yeah that's it I wonder how it was that someone under his command could just take a top-secret prototype and fly on an unauthorized mission. Was what's her name, Mink, or whatever a captain or leutenent? and if she made captain how do you suppose she did that? any favors involved?:p

Maniac was promoted to full colonel, and was given an escort carrier (the Kiev, IIRC), at the end of the WC4 novelization.

The chick's name was Capt. Maria "Minx" Grimaldi. As for how she got to captain, test squadron pilots tend to be faster to promote, plus the fact that it was a war, where promotions are generally faster than in peacetime. Can't recall the details of her theft of the Morningstar, so I won't comment on that.

From what I remember Minx was working with Jazz & the Mandarins. She stole a Morningstar for them. Jazz betrayed her & when Blair found her she was near to death. She made him promise to kill Jazz for her. Keep in mind that my memory's real fuzzy at this point.

Hmm, I remember more about WC 2 than any same person would care to admit

.
Minx was, indeed promoted before we met her, and frankly, I don't see anything strange about that. After all, Jazz was also a traitor, and he was a Major. I don't see why Minx shouldn't be Captain - hell, you don't know how long she's been flying.
As for the theft. Pilots normally have access to the flight deck. Keep in mind that with Jazz gone, everybody thought the Concordia was spy-free. Anyway, Minx set up an explosive device on the flight deck. Then she went and told Sparks that she was doing the patrol today (the Concordia did not have the computer system that appeared in WC 3). Sparks had no reason not to believe her, so she cleared her Morningstar.
Then Talon and Crossbones came down onto the deck. They immediately realised what's up, but it was too late - the flight deck went up in flames. Talon and Sparks were wounded, and Crossbones died. By the time the flight deck was back in operation, Minx was already too far away.
And yes, later on Jazz left Minx and everybody else stuck on the space station while he fled in the Morningstar. Minx sent a message from a failing life-pod, and died. Then we went after Jazz, and had the satisfaction of seeing him die

There. That's probably more then you ever wanted to know

Kalk, Quarto: It was an obscure Simpsons quote. Homer has been making alchohol in his basement when prohibition was on in Springfield... He filled bowling balls with booze and bowled them into the gutter in the bowling alley. Then a bunch of pipes and things delivered it to Moe's Tavern. When he turned himself in he was asked if that was how he did it and he responded...

You forgot one thing. I filled the blowing balls with a funnel.

I hope this clears things up
